I stayed here with a friend as part of a rail holiday travelling down the Südbahn from Vienna to Trieste. The hotel is a short walk downhill from Payerbach-Reichenau railway station, so it was very convenient for photography days or trips up and down to the Semmering area stations. Our room was excellent - spacious and clean. The hotel restaurant offers a good range of dishes and we ate there on all three nights of our stay. It's very pleasant to sit under the trees in the courtyard. Service was good and prompt, even when the restaurant was busy. The local Raxbräu beer is available here and was very easy to drink. Breakfast was a very good quality (organic tea, for example) and plentiful buffet, with lots of choice. The owner is a real gentleman and was happy to chat about railway history. I will no doubt return with my wife and explore the area more, and not just from a railway perspective.

We had a beautiful weekend at Payerbacherhof - it is charming little hotel in a valley surrounded by lovely mountains. Breakfast was super both mornings, and we spent one day hiking all around the mountains with a great route recommendation from our host. The second day we borrowed great e-bikes from the hotel, and rode to the cable car, which we took up and walk up to the summit for gorgeous views and lunch. It is the perfect place for a peaceful and natural weekend, perfect respite from city life! The hotel has a lovely sauna and therapeutic pool, note that this is not a hot spa / hot tub as we had hoped for after a long day's walk. All the facilities were clean and welcoming, and a lovely family run place.

We only stayed one night but were very satisfied with the accommodation. The room was large and the bed comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, also very good coffee and as we had very hot weather we were able to sit and enjoy it in the garden. A great place to stay if you are going hiking or visiting the festival in Reichenau.
