Arrived to a friendly reception and a lovely atmosphere in the pub. Shown to our room, room 5, which is well positioned overlooking the sea front with a really comfy superking bed. We ate in the pub two nights and the food off the specials board was really good. I can recommend the salmon and the pork loin. The food was well priced, below £20. Entertainment in the pub on Friday evening by Craig Reid and his dad was superb. Great atmosphere right up till midnight. Very busy pub and friendly locals. Breakfast was cooked fresh by attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the area. All in all, a super break, and we are likely to return and would definitely recommend it. Parking was free on the harbour front.

Didn’t stay at the hotel side of the Crown, but would highly recommend visiting the pub for a drink and something to eat. No complaints with the food selection or portion sizes – excellent. Highly recommend going on a Friday evening, they have a singer who does requests and a bit of karaoke – had a brilliant night of singing and dancing.

Just got home after a fantastic week in the Crown Hotel. It was faultless, we had a lovely room overlooking the harbour. A very comfortable bed. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us, even helping with organising a surprise bunch of flowers for my wife on our anniversary. The breakfast was superb, I had a full Scottish on every morning of our stay. We ate our evening dinner every night in the hotel restaurant, huge portions every time and the food was truly delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Crown Hotel to anyone.

Delicious food and friendly staff. We had the freshly caught fish of the day (mackerel) and the local dish, Cullen Skink. Both wonderful! The beer was good too. A ‘proper’ pub as well as hotel. Would definitely recommend for food and drinks.

We are fairly local and always note that out of the several places to eat in Portpatrick the Crown is always the busy one which is a good sign. We had our lunch sitting outside in the sun on a lovely day. I had cod and chips and my wife had the ploughmans. Quite expensive for what it is but their money making season is short so understandable. I thought that for the price the portion of cod was rather small, refreshing change to have real chips but both the fish and the chips would have benefitted from another minute in the fryer. The ploughmans lunch was enormous with a generous amount of various cheeses and would have fed us both but it was not the cheese and pickle lunch that we expected it would have been better described as an opulent cheese salad, it had curried rice salad, potato salad, tomatoes mixed lettuce and greens, chutney and a couple of silverskins. Happy diners all around us complimenting the food.

Rating the restaurant only. Crowded, not friendly, food overpriced and dreary, noisy, not terribly tasty or memorable except for the lack of specialness.
