Lovely quaint guest house opposite Whittington castle steeped in character. apparently the back wall of the house dates back to Saxon times and is the gable end of a Saxon long house. The owner showed us the footings in the garden.

WE HAD A LOVELY STAY IN THIS GREAT FIND OF A PLACE RIGHT IN FRONT OF WHITTINGTON CASTLE.. SO PICTURESQUE! OUR HOST DEBBIE WAS VERY ACCOMODATING AND MADE US FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE, SHE ISN'T DOING BREAKFAST AT THE MOMENT BUT WE KNEW THAT BEFORE WE WENT. IT WASN'T AN ISSUE, THERE IS A LOVELY PUB NEXT DOOR AND A REALLY NICE CAFE IN THE CASTLE. IT WAS A SHORT TRIP BY CAR TO ELLESMERE AND OSWESTRY. BOTH WORTH A VISIT. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO STAY. David & Linda

We were viewing houses and courtesy of a last minute one had to find a room for the night at very short notice. All the normal big company ones were fully booked so we did a quick internet search of "places near us with availability". Talk about striking gold! We booked, followed the instructions to get there and were told "Can't miss it, opposite the castle." I was already liking the sound of this. "Next to the Old Bottle Pub" (will be reviewing this too!). The landlady was friendly - as were her beautiful three cats! Very disappointed that I wasn't allowed them on our bed that night (yes, we are cat owners and were missing our two). The inside of the house was old world with rooms up and down. Instantly fell in love with the layout. Spotless, warm, comfortable (one of the most comfy beds I have had the pleasure of sleeping in), coffee and tea facilities ... but to wake up to quacking ducks in the castle moat was wonderful! A fantastic use of space and fantastically well managed. Would totally go back here and avoid giving my money to the big companies.

Weekend stay
Nice welcome from owner. Stairs are steep and irregular. We stayed on second floor. My metal frame bed was noisy and soft mattress. Room clean and tidy. Breakfast extra but go to pub next door for more choices/value. Unsuitable for those with access problems. Car park adjacent in corner of pub car park. My corner shower had high step in and was snug...

The best b and b I've ever stayed in. Great view if the castle from my bedroom window. Lovely to sit and watch the wildlife on the moat. Cats are fabulous and very friendly. Debbie is a great landlady. My type of person. House is old, quirky and quaint.

As a package this is brilliant.
A real hidden jem in a small village with lots of facilities. Opposite the Castle and duck pond. Not far to lots of tourist hotspots and when you get back plenty of free parking.
Its an old building with creaking floorboards but that odds to the charm.
