Will not go again! after ordering and attempting to pay I was informed!! " No cash payments mate" it may well be ok for a large part of the population!? but it doesn't suit all of us! does it?? The beer selection was ok if you don't know or care what you drink ( voodoo jaz hat) we found the staff miserable and uninterested and I would imagine lacking in any sort of hospitality training!!? All being said if you like going to a pub! don't go to this one! it ain't very good at all.

We stopped for a drink when waiting for the train and we really enjoyed sitting in the sun having a pint of very nice IPA. It’s a nice place to sit and watch the world go by. Will def be back.

Great ales but the customer service was terrible so we left and went elsewhere, won't be going back. Plus they don't take cash.....is a real shame as the pub looked nice was clean and in general was inviting. 4 of us go out in knaresborough twice a week but until they take cash and employ some decent staff it's a no from us..

We booked four rooms in the Mitre Inn in Knaresborough 12 months ago for the 19th July weekend. The booking included breakfast which at the time was highly recommended. We paid £125 per night per room. I phoned the pub several days ahead to check the booking only to find the pub no longer include breakfast and they had failed to inform us. They offered to put £2.50 per person behind the bar as compensation which was not nearly enough to purchase breakfast locally. Needless to say we cancelled the booking and for the same price we had a fabulous weekend in Lincoln instead with bed, breakfast and onsite parking.

We stayed at the Mitre 4 years ago and enjoyed it so much we returned in November 2023.The rooms are just as comfy and spotlessly clean and I very much like the location. It was nice to be remembered by Lesley who workings in the breakfast room and cleans the bedrooms. We had dinner in the bar one evening and it was very nice. The only thing that has changed is the breakfast. When we last stayed there was a menu and you could choose from a selection of hot food. Now it is just a self service breakfast. You have to make your own tea/coffee and the selection on the buffet is yogurt, fruit juice.cereals, pre wrapped croissants and pain au chocolate.Toast is served at the table.

My room and bathroom were clean , warm airy and very comfortable. The decor is attractive and modern. I would give the accomodation 4 stars. The covenience of the location depends on whether you are a light sleeper and whether you travel by car or train. Their is no car parking at the pub. The inn is practically on the platform of Knaresborough station however the first train goes by at 05.30. It is loud. I am told it is a goods train. The rooms are above the pub. The pub plays music. I was told the pub closes at 10 on weekdays and I did not hear much noise after that but the weekends may be different. One of the pleasures of going away for me is to have a nice breakfast. Here I feel the Mitre fell short. Even though it serves food during the day there was no cooked breakfast offered. A "continental breakfast " described help yourself, tea, instant coffee, cereal and pre-wrapped pastries. Toast and yoghurt was provided. I must give the breakfast experience 2 stars.

Had a very nice lunch at The Mitre today, under new management. Lovely Pizza and a free pint for me and a delicious burger for my friend. Great to have lovely pub and restaurant back in the area. Will 100% be back soon. Thanks to Karen and Chris the new managers for their warm welcome and hospitality.

We were greeted with a very warm yorkshire welcome from the manager and although we were there very early he took our belongings and these were in our room when we checked in The pub is modern and tasteful and very welcoming… the selection of drinks is vast - they serve Madri ( if you know you know) there is a large outdoor area which is bathed in sunshine … situated next to the quaint railway station ( not noisy ) and the beautiful church and 2 mins walk to the riverside and town centre The rooms are modern and airy and the bed/ pillows are really comfortable we had a great nights sleep The Yorkshire breakfast is served in a dedicated dining area with an open kitchen - amazing friendly service from a lovely lady ( yorkshire folk really are friendly )the biggest breakfast ever - locally sourced premium quality ingredients ( vegetarian breakfast amazing) even the toast is quality Overall a fabulous pub/hotel and one we will come back to Knaresborough really is a lovely town which is small in size but huge in beauty The riverside is idyllic Blind jacks pub is worth a visit too Lavender tea room does amazing fresh sandwiches and proper tea

We enjoyed our stay in Knaresborough, the town has some lovely shops to look around. We stayed at the Miter Inn, there is very little parking near by, we had to park in the long stay car park, it is about a 10 minute walk. Definitely bring luggage you can wheel! The room was clean and comfortable, albeit a little small. The staff in the bar were very welcoming and we enjoyed a few drinks. Breakfast was definitely a big let down, the lady who took our order was lovely but the breakfast was not… no fruit or yogurts and the room was set out for a christening, we felt in the way. The couple of tables set for breakfast were extremely close together. I had the porridge, this was very dry and I couldn’t eat it, thankfully there were a few boxes of cereal on a table with some orange juice, although the range was limited I found something. My husband had the cooked breakfast, he also felt this was a let down. It is for this reason we would not stay again.
