the hotel its self was fine and currently having a refurb. I stayed Monday to Friday with daish,s holidays the problem that I had with the hotel was that most of the sitting room and corridors where much to hot the entertainment room was unbelievably boiling hot , this stopped me from playing bingo and watching the evening entertainment. so I resorted to sitting the lounge bar area where I could open the patio door to cool that room a bit but I had to take into consideration for the other guests most of them were happy with me having the door open other than that the hotel and food etc. was ok

The bedroom was spotless & cleaned & tea & coffee replenished every day. The room, on the 2nd floor, was nice & quiet, so we slept well. The food was hot, tasty & really well cooked & the hotel caters for food intolerances. Compliments to the chef! All the staff were really helpful and friendly. The reception has bus timetables and you can get the bus to places of interest. The 93X goes to Robins Hood Bay & Whitby through picturesque little villages, from outside the train station, which is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel across the bridge, Be wary though. When we went to Whitby, the bus which is every hour was cancelled due to driver absence & there were no trains from the station. We had to wait nearly 2 hours for the next 93X (the only bus from Whitby that goes back to Scarborough). There are also buses to Bridlington and other places of interest from Scarborough. We got on the Daish coach at 8.10am & after many pick ups from Stockport, Royton, Rochdale, Oldham etc. (as the East & West Manchester coaches were merged), we eventually got to Scarborough at 2.30pm. maybe we'd go self-drive next time. Overall a great holiday.

No department fails to deliver, they are all friendly, well motivated and professional. 3 for 1 promotion from 5 until 9 was a brilliant extra. Food ,bar, and entertainment all adequate. Revamp work continues,to make this hotel even more desirable, dining room especially looks really smart now. All I can say is,keep up the good work guys,as we will be returning for more rest and relaxation At your superbly run hotel

A couple in our mid 70's, we have just returned from a 4 night, mid-week break at The Esplanade Hotel, travelling with David Ogden coaches. We requested a room on a higher floor and were pleased with our allocated room, No. 487 on the 4th floor. The double bedroom was basic, with 2 windows overlooking the bay and harbour. The ensuite bathroom had a shower over the bath, but hand rails & a non-slip mat in the bath, made getting in and out, safe and easy. The room & bathroom were both clean, the bed comfortable and shower had plenty of hot water. Both rooms were pleasantly warm, though we were thankful for an additional electric radiator on our last night, when high winds made the windows rattle! We had an allocated table in the dining room, for breakfast and dinner. The food was very tasty, with a good choice available and well served by attentive staff, never having to wait to be served. We liked being able to choose our evening meal at breakfast time and our following day breakfast, the night before. The Eggs Benedict were my particular favourite, cooked to perfection. There was bingo and entertainment each evening during our stay, we especially enjoyed the Elvis tribute performer. Drinks were half price on 2 nights of our stay, very good value. The hotel is situated on a steep hill, fairly close to the town centre. We walked into Scarborough on our first night, but found the uphill return walk challenging and would have used a taxi to return if we went again. All the staff we met during our stay were friendly and helpful and we would certainly return to the Esplanade Hotel, thank you for a very good holiday.

Another really good holiday with Daish's. Nice single room with good space and lots of drawers. Met lots of lovely friendly guests, and staff all could not have been more kind and helpful, especially our lovely waitress Kim, from breakfast to dinner she always had a smile and was always willing to help. All this plus good entertainment. Thanks Daish see you again soon. BarRho

From the moment we arrived at The Esplanade Hotel, we felt embraced by its warm, welcoming atmosphere. Perched on Paignton’s famous seafront, the hotel offers stunning panoramic views of Tor Bay—best enjoyed from the elegant lounge or the comfort of a sea-facing room.
Our room was impeccably clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated in coastal hues. Soft linens, thoughtful amenities, and blackout curtains guaranteed a restful night’s sleep, while the private balcony became our go-to spot for morning coffee and golden sunrise vistas.
Service here is nothing short of outstanding. Every team member—from reception to housekeeping and the bar—greeted us with genuine smiles and took the time to anticipate our needs. Special dietary requests at breakfast were handled swiftly, and the full Devonshire spread (local sausages, freshly baked pastries, and home-made marmalade) set us up perfectly for beach walks and town explorations.
The hotel’s on-site brasserie serves modern British cuisine that cleverly showcases regional produce. We savored beautifully presented dishes—like seared scallops and Devon lamb—paired with a carefully curated wine list. After dinner, the bar’s live piano sessions struck just the right note for a relaxed evening.
Location couldn’t be more ideal: direct beach access, a short stroll to Paignton Pier, and easy links to the steam railway and coastal trail. Yet despite its central spot, the Esplanade remains a haven of calm, where attentive service and though
