Great value, peaceful environment and the hosts are amazing. We enjoyed walking to the beach and sitting and listening to the birds. Highly recommend!

Once again we've enjoyed our stay at Evergreen Retrait! What we loved : - Birds singing is the only noise we hear in the morning - The bathroom and bed linen smell good. - The beds are comfortable. - The food is fresh, tasty, and healthy. Be curious about jogging or walking and find your way to the lagoon side. An amazing panoramic view

It's difficult to put into words how lovely this place is, how lovely Greg and Maria are and how much we loved staying here. A peaceful, beautiful environment, delicious local food cooked from fresh every day, a lovely room designed with both comfort and environment in mind. And such wonderful hosts. We will definitely be going back.

We have just enjoyed a lovely week at Evergreen Ecolodge. It is a haven of tranquility amongst the hustle and bustle of Gambian life where one can retreat after a visit to the market, a walk along the beach or a longer trip up-country or into Senegal as we did. Greg, Maria and Neo are excellent hosts; nothing is too much trouble and it is very apparent that the needs and wants of their guests are the top priority for them. From excellent food and the delivery of tea and coffee to our door at 6am, to organising taxis and the loan of a yoga mat, we really were made to feel at home. Our roundhouse was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The composting toilet as a novelty but not a problem. Maria’s cooking is excellent with lots of variety. My husband especially enjoyed the Greek meal but it was all delicious. The multiple pots of tea we drank were up-to-scratch too! If you are looking for somewhere to stay where you can embrace the true atmosphere of The Gambia in comfort, feel safe and have lovely people to help you organise your trip, this is the place for you. Thank you to Greg, Maria, Neo and their staff for a memorable week. It’s a shame we couldn’t have brought the weather home with us but we will be back to enjoy it again!

On arriving in the Gambia we were picked up from the airport by taxi and driven to Evergreen Eco Retreat which is lush with trees, plant life, bird life and a feeling of peace. Our homely round houses were well furnished with a spacious and comfy bed, plenty of space to unpack clothes and ensuite bathrooms. Thank you Maria and Greg and Neneh and Fatima for taking such good care of us and for making us feel so at home and of course a big thank you to Maria and Neneh for all the tasty breakfasts and dinners. I look forward to staying with you again. Till next time Sula xxx

I had visited the evergreen lodge about four years ago and thought that it would be a perfect retreat to experience, so i came back this march as a guest with my wife and two children and had a real taste of Gambia. The accomidation is very clean and tastfully decorated and the beds are lovely and comfotable. The food is excellent. The surrounding are tranquil and peaceful but not too far from local restaurants and village life, and the beach is a five minute drive,so within walking distance. The enviroment is very safe with no traffic noise. The owners are so friendly and accomidating, they certainaly made our stay warm and welcoming. To say the least i certainly recommend staying here,you wouldnt regret it.

We have recently returned from our annual visit to the Evergreen Lodges. They never disappoint! Marie and Greg are always attentive to your needs without being overwhelming. Their hospitality is second to none. We always value the serenity of Evergreen together with the high standard and creativity of the accommodation. For people like us who love to be immersed in natural surroundings Evergreen is a good choice for a break. The diversity of birds and their songs add to the interest and relaxation. Marie’s cooking is not the least enjoyable part of our visits catering for all tastes and needs! We love the close proximity of beaches offering wildness and more developed facilities if preferred. We have enjoyed an excellent and highly memorable week at Evergreen Eco Retreat. Greg and Maria are amazing and extremely helpful hosts. We are vegan, which was no problem for our hosts; the food was delicious and highly varied each day. The lodges are clean, spacious, very comfortable and set in beautiful gardens, rich with plants and birdlife. The main purpose of our visit was bird watching, which Greg and Maria were very helpful in organising, including an excellent, highly knowledgeable guide. The local beach is within walking distance, although Greg was happy to drop us off by car to save some time. The beach is very pleasant with just a few low key bars/cafes serving drinks and food along miles of sand. Not at all touristy Evergreen is about 45 minutes drive from Banjul airport and the transfer was very smooth with a lovely driver, Papis. We enjoyed a few stunning bird watching trips and saw a huge variety of species across different locations, including an amazing kayaking trip. Evergreen was a perfect location to give easy and speedy access to all our excursions. We will visit again and recommend it highly.
