What a little gem! From the moment you walk through the front door this place is an absolute delight. It’s hard to know where to start. The walls are teeming with a very eclectic selection of art work while a cosy sitting room is an invitation to sit and relax with tea/coffee/biscuits/fruit and lots of books! Some quirky jungle dwellers are dotted throughout the foyer, dining and sitting rooms - all of which add to the welcoming atmosphere. Our room was spacious with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Beautiful en-suite and everything absolutely spotlessly clean. Well done to housekeeping. Tea/coffee making facilities were an added bonus though not really necessary as they are available in the sitting room. Parking was on site, and it was just a short stroll to Fitzgerald Park ( more great coffee there!). Directly across the road you can access the river walk which takes you into the city. Alternatively a ten minute walk on the Mardyke/ Western Road brings you into the heart of Cork. Continental breakfast is available for an extra €5 and makes a perfect start to a day exploring Cork. This was our first time staying in Rose Lodge but we will definitely be back.

The most striking thing about this establishment is the art work on display. Amazing paintings and sculptures everywhere and also stuffed animals (not taxidermist but children's toys) a zebra peeking out from under the stairs for example. Our room was rather small as was the bathroom but had everything we needed. the breakfast, at 5 euros, was amazing value - fruit, yoghurt, bread, toast, croissants, cheese, ham, smoked salmon and jam. The other plus was the staff, everyone was so helpful and friendly. A bit of a walk into town but there is a bus stop directly opposite the house. Free parking at the front of the house.

Whenever I visit Cork, the Rose Lodge Guesthouse is my first choice to stay. The staff work hard there to keep it spotless. The beds are wonderful, and nice to sleep in. Breakfast is great, as is the coffee. From the Guesthouse it's a short walk to Cork city centre, and there is a bus stop near the Rose Lodge. But, the best part about the Rose Lodge Guesthouse is the staff. To a guest entering they are greeted by very friendly, and nice people. They make the place a very good choice to stay in whilst in Cork!
