This is a fantastic place to visit. Comfortable and you are made to feel so welcome. Martin goes out of his way to make sure that its a good visit! The breakfast is brilliant! Centrally located in Birr you have easy access to all the towns amenities. Make sure that you try the Tapas Bar at least one night, really good food and great portions for tapas. I have stayed here a few times now and its my go to place when visiting.

This is a very popular, busy B&B, but for good reason, it's outstanding. Martin, Lorraine and all the staff do an amazing job of making their guests comfortable and looked after. On the first night we explored the amazing garden to the back of the house, and ended up having dinner al fresco. Nothing was too much trouble. The tapas style restaurant works brilliantly, providing innovative, smaller meals beautifully prepared.

Booked a single room at The Townsend BnB and I was extremely impressed by the stunning Georgian Townhouse with period decor and furniture that was spotlessly clean, very central and extremely comfortable. Lorraine and Martin where incredibly welcoming and chilled making for a relaxed a pleasant stay. Whilst my trip was for work I would return for a relaxing stay in the lovely town of Birr with it's Georgian architecture and stunning castle and grounds. Breakfast was fresh, varied, great selection, proper ground coffee and very tasty. Only wee tip would be pack ear plugs because it is on a roadway access into Birr.

Ideally placed for attending a local wedding and exploring the Georgian town centre. I could not fault anything including the breakfasts that were good quality and substantial. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Found this gem of a spot in birr. Beautiful, spotless, full of character townhouse. Lovely welcome from martin, we had the most beautiful food in there restaurant & wine bar. and the place was packed, lots of staff and all lovely on the ball. The rooms were so cosy,clean and comfortable, the bed linen was so comfortable and smelt like heaven 😍 couldn't recommend this beautiful townhouse enough Thanks to the team 🙌

Stayed here overnight as attending wedding locally. lovely room and friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast choice. Hassle free arrival and departure. On street parking. Would highly recommend.

Everything about this place was perfect. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and cosy. Staff very friendly and if I go to Birr again I will definitely stay here. Would really recommend. Also there’s a great selection for dinner.

Stayed overnight in this lovely guest house in a Georgian building recently. Comfortable rooms and a great & varied breakfast menu. We didn't eat in their busy famous Tapas Bar, but had a "night cap" there later in the evening. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful.

There is no parking on the premises as advertised and we were directed to street parking. Our small room was crowded with very nice antique furniture—no way to open two suitcases in the room at the same time however. There is no air conditioning so the window must be open for a bit of air— as our room was directly on the Main Street we had quite a bit of street noise especially Saturday night. WiFi was inadequate with a very weak signal sometimes and none at others. It took us over an hour to get connected—frustrating when we learned there was a different password not mentioned in the Guest Book. No soap for the shower. Empty Kleenex box. Although there were a number of small lamps in our room none of them gave off sufficient light to read by. Reading is ONLY by the window in broad daylight. TAPAS Restaurant is attached to and part of the Townsend House. This is a wonderful find and quite busy on Saturday night. Excellent food, reasonably priced, in typical tapas-style smaller portions, which was a very nice change from a few weeks of Pub food.
