It exceeded our expectations! First it was easy - the lodge is the location for the Hummingbird experience (my husband's mobility isn't the same as mine so having it all right there was great). We watched and photographed the variety of species, right in front of us, from the deck. Found the experience captivating. The lodge is high up in the mountains (7000 ft) so it's cooler and can get windy - bring a jacket or wear layers. Pablo's hummingbird presentation was informative and he made it fun! Both Pablo and Tere were extremely attentive, eager to accommodate any request. Plan on eating there - Tere can cook! And prepares healthy meals. Breakfast, seated out on the front deck with the view overlooking Santa Maria, was a fav. We'll be back- to relax, for delicious meals and for time with Pablo and Tere - being in the company of pros, people who are knowledgeable and who care, makes a difference.

The Hummingbird Experience is amazing, you will see many species of hummingbirds, up close so even have a chance at getting photographs. They provide lots of information about hummingbirds and how to identify different species. The couple running it are very enthusiastic, and offer a wonderful location, really nice groudns, great food and great hospitality. We had a great day at Quinta Galeon!

I just spent 4 wonderful days with Pablo and Tere at their lodge Quinta Galeon photographing the cast of many hummingbirds coming to their location - hundreds of them all day long. They prepared 3 meals a day cooked as I requested with the delicious fresh local items they offered each day. I purposely went during the rainy season to avoid crowds and knowing that hummingbirds like the rain. What I did not realize was that hummingbirds love the rain. During extreme downpours (buckets per second), I videoed many minutes of different species doing their rain dance - it was a real treat. Each video was over 100 MB. My room was very well furnished and special photo areas were well designed. I hope to go back in the dry season as it does get cold at night in the rainy season - bring an extra warm layer.

After a short, steep drive from the main road through the gate of the Quinta Galeon Lodge, we heard hummingbirds. Then we saw them -- hundreds of them! -- whirling and swirling around and through the numerous, active feeders, and we were immediately mesmerized. The three days we spent with Pablo and Tere were magical, with delicious meals served overlooking bird feeding stations which were alive with so many species of migrating birds, so beautiful in their freedom. The views of the Dota Valley filled with dark green coffee plants and the small town of Santa Maria were gorgeous by both day and night. Lovely dinners were served inside by a glowing fire accompanied by soft jazz recordings which only added to the special feel of our unforgettable time with Costa Rica's hummingbirds and so many other birds of such great beauty, at the Quinta Galeon Lodge.

The lodge Quinta Galeon is a specialist in hummingbird watching and is attracting many different hummingbird species in their large garden. Also plenty of other birds can be easily spotted in the garden of the lodge. We would like to thank Pablo and Tere for the wonderful time we had at Quinta Galeon Lodge.

Beautiful place, full of nature and a green scenery. A variety of animals and fauna that is appreciated by the relaxing atmosphere. You trully appreciate hlw quite and green the place is, I highly recommend it. I wish I could back again with my family for them to appreciate the place.

This is a wonderful setting with views of the mountains and the valley right from the comfortable decks where you can watch multiple species of hummingbirds amaze you with their beauty! The food was very good, the rooms comfortable and clean. The hosts were very caring and more helpful than you could even ask for. Recommend the coffee tour at cope dota and literally the best cup of coffee you may have ever tasted, fresh from the field. Total Costa Rica wow.

I would be very cautious about booking with Quinta Galeon. I made a reservation which I had to cancel (over 2 months notice) and Quinta Galeon is NOT complying with their published refund policy. They are supposed to refund my booking amount minus 20% to the original credit card. They have not refunded anything despite my best efforts. I will have to open a dispute with my credit card company. I will be updating this review with any new developments. (please note that I have not been there)
