We go to Winnipeg almost every July to visit family and friends and to attend the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. During our most recent 3 visits, The Columns have enhanced our vacation. This mansion is one of the most beautiful B&B's we've ever stayed in. Most of the first floor has the original magnificent architecture. The rooms are spacious and comfortable; several have their own balconies. The remarkable outdoor living space in the backyard, facing the Assiniboine River, must be seen to be believed...it's a little piece of heaven! The breakfasts are bountiful and delicious! (Don't believe the website which says they serve a "continental breakfast". You probably won't need lunch after tucking into one of the magnificent breakfast buffets.) There's even very good sherry and chocolates on offer for later in the day/evening. The location is perfect. The Columns are in a tony, very quiet old neighbourhood called Armstrong's Point. But it's only a few minutes' walk to 4 major bus routes which can take you to downtown Winnipeg in about 20 minutes. (Winnipeg is very spread out, so a 20-minute bus ride to get to downtown is a short ride.) But it's the owners - April and Diamond - who make The Columns really special. They make their guests feel so welcome. Next time you're in Winnipeg (or if you live in Winnipeg and want to pamper yourself), treat yourself to a superb B&B experience and stay at The Columns.
