Would’ve Been a Great Stay… Until the Injury
Drifthaven is undeniably charming: beautifully designed, cozy, and nestled in a peaceful part of Gearhart. I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, my stay ended with a serious injury due to a safety issue in the room that I feel compelled to share.
On the last morning of my stay, around 4am, I went downstairs to use the restroom. The stairs inside the room are not lit, and the banister ends on the second-to-last step, which makes it deceptive to navigate in low light. Because of the banister situation, I missed the final step, tripped, and fell hard, so badly that I could barely walk and had to go to Urgent Care that morning. My spouse had to drive out from Portland and pick me up, and I had to cut my trip short and cancel a work conference commitment due to the injury.
I informed staff immediately, and they said they’d notify the manager and follow up. I never heard back. I also submitted feedback via email the day after I left, still nothing. Between the medical bills, the disruption to my work, and the lack of response, I’m really disappointed.
I’m sharing this in hopes that management will take this seriously. Installing small lights along the stairs would be a simple fix that could prevent future accidents. I expected more attentiveness from a place that clearly puts so much care into its aesthetic and I am disappointed. I would love to stay here again, but would like the safety lights installed and for the customer service to improve first.

The staff were amazing and so thoughtful towards our pups! It was such a relaxing nice vacation and SO close to the gorgeous beach!

Fun find in Gearhart, opposite a bakery and wine bar. Very friendly staff and accommodating. Lovely garden area.

Lovely feel to each apartment. Small but adorable. Excellent service including a welcome cocktail and a continental breakfast. Bikes and beach chairs are included and the back yard is lovely. We will be back!

Extremely overpriced!
Extremely tiny room with micro furniture. Recently remodeled. Bed was very low and extremely soft. The pilot on the gas stove in the room wouldn’t turn off and the interior temp was 79 degrees with all of the windows open. Extremely overpriced at more than $2/sqrt ft per night. Worst value ever!

Nice small hotel, quiet, loke a mini apartment, nice village bakery across the street, excelle t for breakfast, short walk to beach, not crowded at all.

Wonderful bungalow that was like a retro mini home with welcome drinks, to purchase snacks and drinks in the room, and breakfast delivered. I wish I could stay longer! Highly recommend!!

The decor and overall concept are really cute, and the space felt cozy, which I appreciated. That said, there’s definitely room for improvement. The unit we stayed in had an unpleasant odor, the shower pressure was weak, and the bathroom was a bit cramped—with some visible mold on the shower curtain, which wasn’t ideal. The mattress wasn’t firm enough for me, and the ceiling fan didn’t work, which made it hard to get proper air circulation. With a few updates, this could be a much more comfortable stay.

酒店回复: Hi Liz. I am sorry you were not happy with your stay. I do wish you had said something while you were here however. I can assure you there was no mold on your shower curtain, as all of ours are laundered between guests, something you will not find at most hotels. If there was a stain we missed, I apologize, we would have happily changed it out for you had you said something. All of our ceiling fans are in working order, we make sure during our precheck inspections of our rooms as we do not have A/C, we also provide tower fans in all of rooms. We are happy to assist with both as the ceiling fan is tied to both a light switch and remote, therefore can cause some confusion. I will say, overall, our bathrooms are small, we were built in 1941 and the needs were simply different. We are not for everyone and we respect that. However we are always here to chat and help and do take cleanliness and our guests comfort very seriously.
