I had a wonderful stay at the Harbour Master’s House in Shannon Harbour. The building itself is a beautifully restored piece of history, full of character and charm, with an unbeatable location right on the Grand Canal. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. Breakfast was excellent – fresh, delicious, and served with great care. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and made sure everything was just right throughout my stay. It’s rare to find a place that combines such comfort with such a unique sense of history and setting. I would highly recommend the Harbour Master’s House to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay in this picturesque part of Ireland.

A great location and a house filled with character. Fantastic views front and back. Our host, Darren was ensured we had a terrific stay. Very knowledgeable and prepared a lovely breakfast next day to send us on our way. His recommendation for the the local bar (literally 200m away) meant that we could enjoy a lovely meal and few pints and still be back in bed within a couple of minutes. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Wonderful home full of character and charm set in a tranquil quiet location close to the canal. The owners Darren and Niamh made us very welcome in their lovely home. The rear private walled garden is a delight to relax in. Our comfortable twin room had windows on 3 sides with an adjoining sitting room to read, relax or play games. Darren cooked an amazing fried breakfast. We had a very relaxing 2 night stay including a visit to the local pub for some local banter. Having left my holiday diary in our room Darren posted it back to the UK and refused to accept payment. Great location for peace, fishing, walking and boating.

This place is in the middle of no where. It is in a very small village that is constantly flooded. The nearest town called Banagher is about 3 miles away. Avoid. Nothimg to do here. Boring flooded area.

What a little gem of a place. We arrived far too early but the Darren let us in and our rooms were ready. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were old rustic charm Great variety of breakfast awaited you in the morning in a lovely room looking out to the wonderful garden. The bed & breakfast is situated just by the canal which was great for our early morning walks Would highly recommend this bed & breakfast

Very comfortable stay, with a friendly owner, and a lovely breakfast. If you are interested in barges and boats, you can see some new, not-so-new, and wrecks. The back garden is beautiful and Darren was busy planting the summer garden while we were there.

We had two lovely nights with our extended family (three families with kids aplenty) and we really enjoyed our stay. Darren and Niamh are so accommodating and welcoming, and the breakfasts were really fantastic - fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals for us to serve ourselves while Darren cooked up the most delicious fried breakfast. Everything was so tasty. The gardens here are incredible too. Really well maintained and relaxing to walk through. The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable and we loved sitting in front of the fire in the main sitting room on antique furniture. I cannot say enough good about this place.
