Worst accommodation ever. Everything dirty, moths flying, smell. The owner didn't refund our money after we left immediately. And he laughed at us. We feel we've been robbed. I strongly warn against this accommodation.

Very polite proprietors but would not recommend this establishment. Its full of China antiques in every available space which makes one nervous of breaking anything. Very dirty room 5 in basement. The smell of damp was apalling and the carpet and beds were filthy. I don't think the bed clothes had been changed from last customer and bed sheets were torn. Did not sleep a wink and slept in my clothes as bedclothes were visibly dirty. Did not use shower as towels provided were dirty and stained. This establishment should close its doors and have the place professionally deep cleaned. Also, we did not appreciate the proprietor accessing our room whilst we were out to put on bedside lamp and close window. They might consider that a personal touch but I found that to be very invasive. Also, very strange that proprietor asks for payment within 5 mins of arrival before they show you your accomodation. Would not recommend this to anyone unfortunately. Paying customers expect cleanliness as a very basic requirement. Yuk !

Myself and my wife stayed for 1 night while attending a wedding in the hotel across the road. Literally! A proper old style friendly guest house. Breakfast selection was excellent. Sleep was excellent too. Hosts were very friendly. Definitely would stay again. Recommended for attending the Ardboyne Hotel. Directly opposite.

Would not recommend this B&B. Last week my wife and I booked this B&B for one night. Regretfully we did not do any research on this premises beforehand. When we arrived mid-afternoon and entered the house we were met with what I can only describe as an ‘oil burner’ smell. On entering the house one is overwhelmed by ‘Clutter’, under the guise of antiques. The owner brought us into the living room and ‘welcomed us’ by asking us to pay the bill upfront on arrival and without seeing the room (our mistake). We were taken upstairs to Room 1, where once again we were met by more clutter in the form of old furniture and oddly, a display cabinet of old crockery!! As we were adjusting to this situation we went into the bathroom to be greeted by a pungent smell, presumably from one of the drains, a loose sink unit and no water coming from the cold tap and there is no way you would use the dirty shower !!! On closer inspection of the room, the carpets were filthy and the balcony was dirty outside and the inside section of the sliding door was really dirty and had cobwebs, it was obvious neither had not been cleaned for a long time. At this point we were considering leaving to find alternative accommodation but as we were under pressure to attend an event, we decided to endure the situation. Having not being able to sleep in the uncomfortable bed we decided to get up at 6am and leave forgoing the breakfast but we first decided to check out the bed and discovered that we slept on a mattress topper and underneath that, the main mattress was so old that it was covered in brown stains, it was just disgusting and we were horrified to realise what we had spent the night lying on it!!! We question how this B and B is operating under such dire circumstances and how it has passed any health and safety regulations in operating as a business under the law is beyond us.

I rang the B + B to book a room and they suggested that I pay cash on arrival and that Cash was King . And yet when I arrived with €90 they had no change and that it would have to be the morning . I don’t like putting places down , but I have never come across a place with so many artefacts / ornaments / vases and pictures on the wall . There were 12 cushions / pillows in my room . The shower area was cluttered with 32 various bottles of shampoo ( presumably left by previous guests ) . The soap holder was caked in rust . The toilet didn’t work . I had to lift up the cistern lid and manually pull the lever . The breakfast was the best I have eaten . The table was laden with loads of fresh fruit and anything connected with breakfast . The fry was so good and the bread and toast was super fresh and the coffee was top class . I had to ask for my €10 change which was embarrassing

The excessive ornaments and clutter was too much, but that's a personal preference. The rest of it was just awful on anyone's level. Room was cold and smelled strongly of damp. After sitting on the bed and chair discovered it was very damp too. 3 large spiders and webs in the room. Really strange smell in the bathroom. 'Stuff' came up the drain in to the sink when water was going the drain? Floor looked like it had not been vacuumed as there were bits everywhere. In the morning found the duvet cover had many stains, hadn't check the night before. Worst B&B experience in Ireland.

Not your average b&b. Furnished with quirky antiques. We had a nice rear room with river view. The choice at breakfast was huge. Genial host. Bar in hotel over the road. Parked right outside Recommended

Stayed in this B+B . While it appeared interesting and quirky with its overstuffed penchant for bric-a-brac and antiquary, in reality, it was a grimy and uncomfortable place. The room was dark , damp, and dirty. The bed was adorned in layers of dusty tapestry like offering and multitudes of odd dusty and grimy cushions and pillows. We removed these outer coverings in the hope of finding fresh, clean bed linen underneath, but sadly, this was not the case. The "duvet" was a worn-out limp lifeless blanket covered in a grubby cover .The sheet was a stained baubled wrinkled ill-fitting brushed cotton which sat on a jumbled mess of foam mattress toppers on a 4 foot "double" bed. There were 2 other beds in the room . I uncovered one to find it dirty and previously slept in . En - Suite: dated and dirty . We did not use the shower or towels - and that has never happened anywhere else. In the morning, a black centipede made its way across the grimy carpet. The bin had rubbish, which was not our rubbish. Breakfast: There was an eclectic assortment of fruits nuts cheeses yogurts , and jams in all kinds of crockery and platters. There was a menu to order hot food . Given the general state of the accommodation, we choose carefully . The cooked food was reasonable, as was the tea served in an ornate silver pot - all quirky but OK . If you do not want to share a table, then this is not for you. Certainly the most unusual place we ever stayed in, certainly quirky, but a definite no return customer . The old recommendations. or awards no longer apply to this establishment.

In a world full of generic,bog standard,city hotels , it's So nice to stay somewhere with character and beauty. Myself and my partner had the best stay here. The whole house and bedroom was genuine vintage with antiques everywhere to enjoy. The room was warm and comfortable, clean and instant hot water. The breakfast was out of this world, the photos don't it justice. The hosts were polite and interesting but not intrusive. We will definitely be coming back here !!! If you enjoy average,boring, generic, uninteresting, impersonal accommodation, this is not the place for you..and explains the very puzzling bad reviews. It's amazing!

well what can we say beautiful place,micheal and sheila very welcoming,loved the antiques,rooms were lovely,warm and clean.Breakfast was out of this world fantastic plenty of choice fruit,cereals muesli,homemade breads,cheeses,chutney.plenty of choice with hot food all delicious.micheal and shiela have a diamond have of a bed and breakfast thank you for a lovely stay.
