We had a great stay at Greyharlings. Check in easy via lock boxes. Clean room. Ample tea and coffees with a small fridge which will hold a small bottle of milk. Great communication with hosts (they Wattsapp you when you arrive) We were fortunate enough to have room 2 which has a spectacular view of the 18th Green of Montrose golf course.(Room 6 may have a similar view) My wife and I booked Greyharlings to participate in a mixed open golf competition. When the match finished and after we had a drink we sat in the room with a grandstand view of the rest of the field playing the 18th! If you are a golfer there is not a better place to stay… you can see the starters but from your bedroom window Picture attached is of sunrise over the 18th hole

Just a short walk from Montrose Beach and overlooking the golf course, Grey Harling is located in a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood yet remains close to several good restaurants. There’s no reception or on-site facilities — check-in is self-service: you’ll receive a code by email to access a key from a locker. It’s not a luxury stay and doesn’t offer extras, but the property is clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The room is tidy and cosy, with a good-quality bathroom and shower. Overall, a pleasant, no-fuss experience — I’d be happy to return.

The hotel was lovely with a sense of history. The room keys are held in a safe which you get given the code for which is super usefull. Rooms were in good conditions with modern bathroom

Good communication with the owner. Self check in through a coded key box. No-one at reception , so you make your own way around the property. No food or drinks available within the property. Bed linen and towels were clean and facilities include an iron and ironing board, nespresso coffee machine with coffee pods provided, a variety of tea bags, small fridge, hairdryer, microwave and plates/cutlery and a kettle. The views over the golf course towards the sea are fabulous. I would recommend the close by Roos Leap for food. A variety of large burgers cost £18-£20 but are huge and extremely tasty. The Grey Harlings rooms have quality decor and we were overall pleased with the King room No. 7 and the twin room No. 1. If we were golfing at Montrose links we would use this accommodation again. The only problem was that the WiFi was cutting out in room 7, the King room.

Nice enough hotel. Nightmare door locks on bedroom door, unbelievably hard to unlock the door. Mattress was thin and the pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. Hotel owners really need to update the ‘breakfast included’ message as it definitely does not include breakfast. We wouldn’t stay here again.

Would recommend this hotel. It just has new owners and is now room only but has mini fridge & microwave in room. Its self check in was straight forward. Hotel is right on the golf links with beautiful views. Room was very clean & bed comfy. Owners were vey helpful & we were able to check in early. Guests have use of the lounge & pool table. Room 1 has a separate bathroom with a bath. Will stay again.

We had a very comfortable stay at Grey Harlings this week. Spacious rooms with super comfy beds. Great showers excellent location with great views of the golf course. The owners went out of their way to make it comfortable for us so thank you so much we'll definitely be back!

Beautiful views overlooking golf course & sand dunes. The hotel has pretty garden surroundings. I stayed in Room 9, it was on the ground floor, spacious, had a nice comfy bed, & was quiet in the evenings. Nice hot powerful shower with plenty liquid body wash & shampoo, which added that special touch. Will definitely stay here again.
