Staying at Dev Shree in Deogarh is something special. We didn't feel like guests, but rather like welcome members of the family. The house is comfortable and everything is done to make guests feel at home. We particularly recommend the “Rural Ramble Sundowner” – a jeep safari that lasts several hours and shows you rural India in a special way. We were lucky and even got to see leopards.

Dev Shree is a gem, particularly for a European touring India. It is called a homestay and in a sense it is in that Bhavna, Shatrinjai, Maha and Bhagi welcome you into their home and you eat, if you wish, and we did, family style with them.(apologies if I’ve misspelled). They are charming with Bhavna gracious, funny, clever and full of laughter, Shatrinjai full of charisma and stories and with two absolutely charming, solicitous, knowledgeable and empathic young men whose abilities augur well for this very well run business. The setting is on the edge of a village - the odd loud firework, birdsong interrupted by the omipresent scooter horn, the occasional drums of the mosque instead of the traditional Adhan. The sweeping verandah overlooks a dammed lake with a set of chairs, a long breakfast and lunch table. Inside, in an open but formal room is a dining room for supper. To the left is a generous sized pool with loungers which is framed by trees. Afternoons were spent reading or having reflexology overlooking the lake with a dip in the pool. We asked for the drinks and laundry price list which put every hotel in which we stayed, to shame in the sense of being so much more reasonable. At my request they also poured me some Indri whiskey which I enjoyed. The food is sensationally good - authentic and spiced as you wish. Breakfast involved the best parathas of our stay and fantastic Akura - Parsi scrambled eggs with many other options too. Lunches and dinners were complete feasts with dal baat churma and, as they are Kshatriya there are also delcious meat curries - the laal maans was quite the best that we had in all our month. In fact the food was quite the best we have had. The rooms are huge, well airconditioned with bathrooms with the most beautiful Carrera marble and excellent showers. The staff - forgive my spelling - from Mukesh, Asif, Harishna and Patti were all charming as were the many whose names that I did not learn but were part of the large well oiled team. I can’t recommend Dev Shree highly enough for a change from hotels, for an experience of a modern Indian home (on a regal basis) but with absolutely excellent cooking and hospitality. In leaving this review - having literally reviewed hundreds of places I note that there are 2-3 reviews from people who have only reviewed Dev Shree and no other place. I would be highly circumspect of these - their content does not represent a reasonable range of views, even if different from mine - they look like hatchet jobs and a misrepresentation. Be assured, Dev Shree is a joyful part of India and an essential part of any Rajasthan tour. This reviewer who gives praise only where praise is due cannot praise it highly enough for a proper experience of a modern Indian family.

酒店回复: Dear Mr. C, Reading your review brought the biggest smile to all of our faces. Thank you so much for taking the time to share such thoughtful and detailed words about your stay at Dev Shree. It means the world to us that you felt truly at home here — because that is exactly what we hope for every guest who walks through our doors. We loved having you join us at the family table, sharing meals and stories together. You captured each of us so beautifully in your words — Bhavna with her laughter, Shatrunjai and his tales, and both Maha and Bhagi bringing their youthful energy and warmth. It makes us so happy that you felt that spirit of family and connection during your time here. Your description of the verandah, the lake, the pool, and even the village sounds so vivid — we almost felt like we were reading a storybook of our own home! Thank you for noticing and appreciating the little things, from the parathas and akuri at breakfast to the laal maas at dinner. Hearing that you found our food to be the best of your month-long travels in India is such an honour for us, as our cuisine is something we love to share with our guests from the heart. We will pass ***** your kind words to Mukesh, Asif, Harishna, Patti, and the rest of our team. They will be delighted to know their efforts added to your experience. Our staff truly are the backbone of Dev Shree, and they take great pride in creating an atmosphere where guests feel cared for. Your generous recommendation, especially for European travellers looking to experience the warmth of an Indian home, touches us deeply. Thank you also for standing up for us against unfair reviews — your voice of experience and sincerity means a great deal. We hope you will carry fond memories of afternoons by the pool, laughter at the dining table, and moments of calm by the lake. And of course, we very much look forward to welcoming you back whenever your travels bring you to Rajasthan again — the parathas and laal maas will be waiting! With warmest regards and gratitude, Bhavna, Shatrunjai, Maha, Bhagi & the Dev Shree Family

Dev Shree in Deogarh was a delightful and unexpected gem of our India trip. This boutique, heritage home has a serene, picturesque setting a few steps from the bustling town. The family immediately made us feel comfortable and part of their lives in this small but luxurious renovation of their ancestral home. Delicious meals and personalized safari excursions, cocktails and stories around the fire, and the camaraderie with the family and other guests are all part of this lovely experience.

I ***** with my wife had a sojourn at this heritage hotel, and the experience was simply fantastic. The warmth of hospitality and overwhelming homeliness infused the setting as soon as we reached. The property is bejeweled with scenic natural surroundings, overlooking a serene and beautiful lake. Bhavna Madam, the gracious landlady, manages everything with remarkable skill and refinement. Land lord's zealous historical anecdots enlivened the heritage rendering the stay a lot more than just a weekend getaway. The staff was humble and courteous , while the chef’s culinary skills ensured every dish a delectable delicacy. This was more than just a sequesterd countryside stay; it is an experience fraught with serene recluse, history, and heartfelt hospitality. It definitely deserves a second visit...a memory inscribed on granites; simply incorrigible.
