A great place to stay with good rooms and exceptional breakfasts. We had a very comfortable double and our friends the annex in the garden. Both ideal and great value

Sadly, other than for booking there is no facility to contact the business through their website. The landline isn't answered and calls go to voicemail. Due to a family issue I've regretfully had to cancel my booking by leaving a message, so I have no evidence that I have done so today and well in time of the booking. Thus I have chosen to use TripAdvisor as evidence of such.

Having had a lovely walk around this delightful village we called in to The Six Bells for lunch. Sitting under the canopy we had a delicious meal of lamb. Staff really friendly & tentative with nothing too much trouble Highly recommended & looking forward to our next visit.

Great evening at the Six Bells…it was packed and full of atmosphere..I had the salmon starter which was very poor and such a small portion…but the half chicken from the rotisserie made up for it..it was succulent and so tastey..we are looking forward to returning ….

Been going To the 6 Bells at Witham on the Hill for over 5 years Food is always very good but quite recently it has changed to offering daily changes to the menu which in my opinion reduces the choices for instance if you book a table on a Monday for another day in the week the menu on that day may not be to your liking and you finish up choosing a meal off the classic menu hope you go back to original choice on the winter menu

My partner drives past this pub frequently on his way home from work and always notes a full car park and cars parked all the way down the road, so we thought we’d pop in for Sunday lunch. I did suggest booking, but we decided to risk it. Unfortunately there were no indoor tables available, as I expected they were fully booked. (Which is a good sign). The weather was mild so we quite happily sat outdoors. The pub is spotless, all table’s extremely clean, no empty glasses sitting about. I loved the decor, a nice mix of traditional country with a modern take. Immediately once seated menus were bought out to us, closely followed by the lady who we first spoke to, who was also giving us menus. Hehe. Prompt drinks order taken. The menu had a good range of lunch options including your traditional Sunday lunch. We both decided on the roast, lamb and chicken. Food arrived at our table quickly, closely followed by a dish of sessional veggies. The dish was piled high, which made difficult to serve without the occasional escaping green bean. The roast was cooked perfectly and we couldn’t complain. Following our meal, we ordered the crumble, which again arrived in good time and was very nice. Despite having an amazing Sunday lunch, I did feel that on this occasion I could not give a five star rating. I often complain about staff being too attentive with constant check backs, but we didn’t receive a check back at all. This is somehow I will visit again and will also recommend. I look forward to visiting again soon.

Please read to the end as it’s not all bad nor good! Like most people leaving a review we enjoyed the food and the service in the pub. The staff were excellent and the food tasty, well presented and a nice choice on the menu. We stayed in the Hayloft. A lovely room. Well appointed, lovely bed linen., great bathroom and shower. In theory everything you need. But the whole experience was spoilt because of the large industrial fan that is on the wall below the hayloft. When we arrived we were told it would be switched off at 9 pm. Fair enough, we thought. It was actually around 10.30 pm. It came on again at 7.30 am. It was loud and the sort of noise you can’t filter out. I completely understand why a working kitchen needs a fan. But I don’t need it under my bedroom on a country pub retreat. Would not recommend this room as a result.
