Sep 2025 - My wife and I have been visiting this pub for the last 3 1/2 years. We would take our visitors there because it was always friendly and the meals were excellent. The landlord retired and sold to the current owners. The menu has been reduced and the meals are no longer quite as nice. The front of house staff are thin on the ground and don’t seem to have the knack of interacting with diners. It’s still a nice pub but we won’t be visiting it again unless we hear it has improved.

Couldn't find our booking. Filthy shower. The black gunge in the corners of the shower must have taken weeks to accumulate. One heater did not work. Had to ask for a heater. "That heater doesn't work". Get it mended. Cobwebs hanging off the wall. Had to ask staff to clean shower. Didn't eat there. If the shower was so disgusting, what is the kitchen like? Mattress a lumpy foam type thing. Terrible place. We would generally walk away but a tight schedule at Christmas prevented this. Terrible hotel.

We had a lovely meal for my husband birthday exactly food lovely service and lots of it was very hot recommend this pub we will be back again this month

We were meandering around the back waters of North Yorkshire to the South of Bedske on an old scenic drive at at midday found ourselves in Burneston, outside the Woodman Inn, and by now being hungry decided to stop, a good decision. Being early we were 1st to be seated and received excellent service, choosing their battered Haddock main with chips and peas, and it was superb, we would certainly stop there again if in the area, as we visit the nearby Wensleydale Railway as shareholders. We noticed they had won TripAdvisor awards recently, and noticed a display featuring our favourite Taittinger Champagne.

Drove by and stopped in for a late Sunday lunch. The staff were all welcoming and the service was great. It was the best roast dinner I have had for a long time, the giant Yorkshire puddings were amazing. The dessert was also delicious. Would highly recommend.

A very comfortable, value for money pub with accommodation. Our room was separate to the pub so was quiet, cosy and clean. The staff were very welcoming. We particularly would like to give a shout out to Chloe, who couldn’t do enough for us and was lovely. Hopefully we’ll be back! Mark and Michelle

This is a lovely inn that offers lovely accommodation and great food with good selection of drinks,landlord and staff are very welcoming,all in a great location and my favourite place to stay while visiting my daughter,near the lovely market town Bedale and close to leeming raf base

Our second visit to The Woodman & equally as good as the first. This time we decided to stop en route to the Lake District as it would be around lunchtime. My husband had the Sunday lunch of roast beef after his stater of black pudding & bacon salad with balsamic vinegar. The bed was lovely & tender & the vegetables cooked perfectly, he said his starter was delicious! I had the chicken & leek pie with home cooked chips & peas. The pie was absolutely yummy, big juicy pieces of chicken & lots of leeks in a creamy sauce, under a lid of crisp pastry, I was thoughtfully brought a spoon to eat my sauce with, such a good idea as it was too good to leave a drop! There is only one downside & that is that we live too far away to visit regularly. Thank you guys for another delicious meal.
