We recently stayed at this holiday park and unfortunately had a very distressing experience. During our stay, my wife suffered severe food poisoning. It was a very difficult night, especially as we have a one-year-old baby. We chose not to leave the park in the middle of the night (at night the drive could be dangerous especially with a baby), and my wife struggled with her illness until morning. As a result, our baby did not sleep at all. In the morning, despite my wife being extremely unwell, I began feeding our baby and cleaning the cabin as much as I could. I called reception because there were no cleaning products provided in the cabin and I needed something to clean the floor. I received no response, likely because it was before 9am. With a tired and unsettled baby and a sick wife, I still managed to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen area as best as I could. When my wife’s condition worsened, I went to the office to explain the situation. I apologised for not being able to complete the cleaning. The staff member told me, “No worries, we understand your family situation.” I thanked them and left. However, two hours later, $200 was charged to my friend’s credit card who booked this place for us. I wrote to management again explaining our circumstances, but I was told that “personal circumstances” are not considered in their decisions. The lack of empathy in that response was extremely disappointing. I made it clear that I did not object to paying a fair cleaning fee if necessary, but charging $200 after verbally acknowledging and understanding our situation felt unfair and insensitive. This review is not about the money. It is about the lack of humanity and compassion shown toward a family with a sick mother and a one-year-old baby. We did everything we could with the limited supplies provided. There were no proper cleaning products or mop in the cabin, only a small number of tissues. Under the circumstances, I genuinely tried my best. There were also safety concerns in Cabin 40. The rail of the top kitchen drawer (with cutlery) was faulty and collapsed onto my finger, causing injury. The gas cooktop ignitor did not work, and instead, a lighter was left in the cabin, which is unsafe in a small space, especially with a baby present. We will be following up with Consumer Affairs Victoria regarding both the charge and the safety issues. I truly hope management reflects on this experience. Families travel to holiday parks expecting a safe and supportive environment. Illness is not something people can control, but empathy and understanding are choices. If the full $200 cleaning fee genuinely went to the cleaner, I can accept that. Otherwise, it feels like taking advantage of a family during a very difficult situation. I sincerely hope no other family has to experience this.

We had family who were camping here but we took a cabin. The cabin was spacious, sited by the river and wonderfully equipped. It was spotlessly clean and the linen and towels were nicely laundered. There were plenty of chairs and tables both inside and on the patio. There was a gas barbaque and a fire basket, plus a fully fitted kitchen inside. There is masses of parking, an excellent children's playground, pool, mini golf, bikes which could be hired from the very friendly staff. We travelled from central Melbourne there by train and bus which took less than 3 hours and cost under $12 per adult. Highly recommended.

Very clean cabins and everything worked. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location and views were postcard quality.
The wildlife in and around the park was great, kangaroos, wombats and many native birds just meters from your porch.
Highly recommend

Lovely spot in a beautiful part of the world. Cabin may be a tad dated, but it had everything you could possibly want and was kept very clean. Staff were pleasant. Park itself was family orientated and quiet at night. Property close to the national park. Would definitely return and stay longer.

We had a great time here most especially my kids. The play ground was close to our cabin which is really nice. The park was clean and plenty of activies for everyone. The mountain view were amazing. Definety will recommend.

We stayed in a country view safari tent. The tent was nice and clean and had everything we needed. The only problem was that it was VERY cold. We’d hoped that because it had a heater it wouldn’t be too bad, but even with the heater cranked as far as it could go we were still freezing - sleeping with our thermals and clothes on top of pyjamas, and even the kids iPads stopped working because the devices got too cold. Make sure you’re prepared if you come in winter, you’ll need many layers of clothing and slippers etc. We will definitely come back another time, but never in winter.

Loved our stay, great place to unwind, friendly staff with lots of nature to explore. River flowing within the premises is a great addition to this park. We stayed in a cabin even though the cabin is in older side but all in a working order. Pool a bit cold but will be nice in summer time

Visited the Big 4 campgrounds recently and unfortunately, the experience fell short. The grounds were poorly maintained with overgrown weeds and grass. The dump point was overflowing multiple times during our week-long stay. Communication regarding safety during unexpected weather was lacking, and we were met with rudeness when reporting issues. Suggesting that the owners invest in a customer service course for a more successful business. The lack of communication about river heights and safety was concerning. Additionally, the tennis court being overrun with weeds, toilets cleaned only once a day, and an inadequately sized pool for the number of guests were notable drawbacks. Suggest exploring alternative parks in the area before booking with Big 4 Taggerty, Lake Eildon is stunning
