We have just had a 2 night stay with dinner on one night at the George and Dragon. We found the room very nice, clean and well equipped. The food was good for dinner. Good menu and good portions. My only criticism was the waiter we had could have known more of the bar listing as could only think of 2 gins and 2 beers on the bar but that is a minor thing. Breakfast was tasty.

A delightful overnight stop

We had a “new” room that was beautiful with a stunning bathroom. One thing could be better…a full-length mirror for the ladies. Breakfast was top class and dinner was also superb though our server was a bit random and forgot a second glass of wine. But the manager recovered very well by delivering at no cost! Location is good especially for a stop-over close to the M6.

Genuinely terrible restaurant. If you care about food, do not eat here. If you’re expecting Grace Dent’s experience you won’t find it. Expensive and inept. Neither kitchen nor serving staff have any idea what they’re doing. Loads of menu items missing, soggy, fatty “soufflé”, overcooked fish, undercooked sausages, flimsy bread, awful wine, dirty glasses, zero atmosphere and an owner who would do well to reflect on his brand of humour. Genuinely avoid. I never write reviews but there is such a gulf between some of the big name reviews out there (had they hired a different chef for their visits, there’s definitely no scallops or goujeres on the menu!) that I was compelled to do it.

Great little stopover

We only needed a place for a one-off stopover and the George and dragon fitted the bill perfectly. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Recommended
