What a woderful experience, Charlotte, Dermot and Kai gave us great service and first class food. The log fire was very welcoming and a good range of drinks. Our visit was so good l booked a table to bring visiting friends next week. I can see this being a regular venue for me.

After visiting Oxburgh Hall (which we can highly recommend) we called here for a drink before driving back to where we were staying. The pub and gardens are very neat and tidy and there is a lifesize statue in the garden looking back towards the pub. The young girl who served us was very polite and friendly. Well worth a visit, and if you do, take a look in the village church across from the pub garden.

酒店回复: Dear dnowland_12 Thank you for your lovely review encouraging others to come our way, especially after or before a visit to the historic Oxburgh Hall (spelt differently to our village, Oxborough!) - run by the National Trust who are very keen on interactive visits and encouraging the naturalistic inquisitiveness of children. The children are usually buzzing and love our garden and are even more excited to see a playground on the other side of the hedge, across the road on the Village Common. St John Church is unique and free to visit! We look forward to welcoming you back. Best wishes in the meantime, Catkin and All the Bedingfeld Team

We have stayed here on a few occasions and had a wonderful experience but this time there was much disappointment. Firstly dining:- This previously had always been enjoyable; straightforward but great quality and noticeably fine ingredients. This time the food was simply of a low standard with our favourite Beef Bourguignon tasting like the inside of a supermarket meat pie, and not convinced red wine had been anywhere near its preparation . The restaurant and bar were clearly under staffed too, which can happen, but the combination with poor cookery made for a bad experience. Thankfully, as a family we were in good company with plenty of conversation. And the hotel:- Many establishments like this, up and down the country, get to a stage where a refurbishment is required and it looks that way here - a worn out shower which should really be replaced, a noisy ensuite fan (sadly common these days) and a toilet seat not really working well and looking old. Generally, the accommodation is looking tired, especially the bathroom. But the real surprise was the DIY room service (see picture) which reminded us of the Pandemic days and the processes hospitality were forced to put in place. Anyway, my guess is they only had one key for the room and as we stayed for two nights, we took the key away with us during the day - that's what everybody does these days. Look, no real harm done here but we were both surprised and disappointed.

酒店回复: Dear MarkElliott68 Thank you for your feedback. I will look into what you have highlighted. Thankfully, as generally we are a popular choice with lots of happy customers. I could not see the picture you refer to which was rather intriguing. More details help me in pinpointing problems to be ironed out - such as actual date and here a room number or description . There are all very individual rooms and the opposite of a Premier Inn concept. The idea is each room is a good choice in its own right. There are so many elements to upgrade against a very scary financial backdrop with everyone struggling to make ends meet let alone pay for a fancy refurbishment. We are slowly upgrading aspects as and when absolutely necessary. We have had sadly an unsatisfactory run of chefs but as always, we are always hoping we have found the perfect combination of chefs (quite a few!) in place as currently so (recently arrived). Do feel free to contact me direct and we can meet up and have a chat about any further suggestions you might have. I really appreciate feedback - it helps considerably. Thank you again and best wishes in the meantime, Catkin and All the Bedingfeld Team

Having recently moved to the area, we’ve been making our way around the local eateries, and this one goes straight to the top of the list. We popped in off the street for lunch and were warmly welcomed by our host (sorry, we didn’t catch your name!), who was great fun and happy to recommend his favourites from the menu. Suffice to say, we were not disappointed.

We were given a free upgrade to a huge suite with a four poster bed! Lovely, comfortable bed lead to a good nights sleep.

A typical English pub, we went there for dinner and the variety of dishes was not too much. My daughter is a regular customer and says that there is more variety of dishes at lunch. The food was good, but a bit expensive. The beer is excellent, so the drinks. The staff was efficient.

We booked the best room in the inn, the 4 poster looked amazing as did the roll top bath and fireplace. But the lack of any soap or bubble bath, coffee stained carpet, and only the burned out remains of a nightlight in the fireplace all talk to a room not living up to its promise. The rest of the stay told a similar story, coffee facilities but a leaking kettle, water glasses in the room but no water. And two of my pet hates, a dripping cistern that I could hear all night and a fan in the bathroom that puts most Harley Davidson bikes to shame. You get the picture. It will take very little work to make this a place that deserved a 5* review but the conditions during our stay were 3* at best.
