We recently stayed for three nights at Hostal Lima and were pleasantly surprised, especially considering the abundance of negative reviews. While the older man at the reception came across as a bit grumpy, the teenager was friendly and helpful. The room size was adequate, but changing and getting in and out of the shower was a bit awkward due to the small bathroom. We also noticed black mold between the tiles in the shower. There was no fridge in the room, but we were able to use a communal fridge. The air conditioning worked well. We even had to turn it off in the night because it got too cold. The walls are a bit thin, so we occasionally heard people talking in the hallway, though not from inside their rooms. The only sound coming from the adjacent room was of the shower. In the evening it was quiet. The location of Hostal Lima is excellent, just a 2-minute walk from Plaça de Catalunya and La Rambla. Located next to the Urquinaona metro station, most tourist destinations are at most ten minutes away. I don't think the other reviewers kept in mind this relatively low price for a (budget) accommodation in central Barcelona, since the price quality ratio is good.
