Where to begin - firstly ignore the dozens of fake reviews. Air conditioning does not work, power is off half the time (and unlike pretty much all other hotels, there is no generator), curtains are so small they barely cover half the window, was given 1 stained towel (no floor mat or hand towel) for a 2 night stay, anyone can walk in from the beach and the locks are flimsy, no safe in room, Wi-Fi almost non existent, toilet leaks, pictures are fake (taken of the owners cabin), food average at best, looks like it’s been years since any maintenance. I was promised a partial refund which was never received and messages and calls have gone ignored for weeks.

Worst place I have ever stayed in. I got robbed at night while sleeping! Someone jumped from the window inside my room and took the valuables that they found. I went to the reception to report the robbery at 6 am and there was nobody there! The hotel staff are rude and the room was filthy! Not a single good thing about it. Avoid this terrible place

I stayed there in June and someone broke into my room in the middle of the night and stole my phone, camera and cash. 4 other cottages were also robbed. The staff of the hotel refused to call the police, me and the other group of victims had to personally go to the police station and get the police. Apparently this happens quite often in this property and the hotel owner does not care. They were arrogant toward us and only said “this things happen… this is Africa”. Not even an apology. Once the police finished the investigation it turned out that the hotel staff are involved in the robbery and hence that they refused to call the police. AVOID IF YOU DONT WANT TO GET ROBBED BY THE HOTEl STAFF!!

The hotel is excellent, with a direct view of the beach, close to several Kitedurf schools, bars and restaurants, the staff are friendly, breakfast is fresh and delicious Internet does not work NOT RECOMMENDED FOR WOMEN TRAVELLING ALONE I traveled alone and there is a guy from Afghanistan sexually harassing female customers who are unaccompanied and the answer I got when I complained was: "Unfortunately we can not follow up with your complaint because this person is a friend of the owner of the hotel

I recently stayed at Kinazi Upepo Hotel in Zanzibar and it was an absolute delight. The hotel is located in a tranquil area, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and offers breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, always going out of their way to ensure that my stay was comfortable. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The bed was comfortable, and I slept soundly each night. The hotel also has a lovely pool area, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring the island. The food at Kinazi Upepo was delicious and varied, with plenty of options to choose from. The breakfast buffet was especially impressive, offering a wide selection of fresh fruits, pastries, and cooked dishes. Overall, I would highly recommend Kinazi Upepo Hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful and luxurious getaway in Zanzibar. The stunning views, exceptional service, and top-notch amenities make it a true gem of a hotel.
