Had a very nice stay at this hotel for a wedding we attended nearby. It’s a little more out the way than other hotels in the area so I’d definitely recommend checking out where it is before you need to check-in especially if you’re not going to be checking in until later but it was a very quiet and beautiful area so we had a great nights sleep - I even saw some red squirrels from the window! The gentleman who looked after us was very welcoming and friendly - we very much enjoyed the breakfast especially as we were a little hungover. The gent had veggie options on hand for my partner which was perfect. Room was very cosy and I loved the little tea station in the room, would definitely recommend staying here especially if you’re on a budget. Thanks so much to the staff <3

Do not go to this dreadful hotel. It is scruffy and very dirty. There is no manned reception. There is no restaurant and no bar. It doesn't look anything like the website photographs. We paid £12.50 each for breakfast. No herbal teas, no decaff coffee, no menu to select from. The choice we were given was a full English breakfast or a vegetarian breakfast. The full English breakfast was very poor - cold toast, congealed beans, and burned bacon. The vegetarian breakfast consisted of cold toast, a fried egg and a banana! Our whole stay was appalling, and when we complained we were offered a discount off our next stay as compensation! We would never go back again.

Me and my partner stayed her for 2 nights for a wedding. We received a message 24 hours before about how to access the building along with the number codes for the front door as well as our room. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member who was very accommodating and served us drinks for the evening in the reception where we relaxed and played pool and he also asked what we normally like for breakfast when we are away and made the effort to make me my own vegetarian breakfast, which was delicious. The only downside was that they were not serving food the evening we arrived , however there were places around to go to eat. The staff member also helped us with taxis etc for the evening of the weddding. Our room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfy and plenty of towels for the stay. On our first night the friendly staff member also recommended a lovely walk up the road from the hotel where there was a lovely lake with pretty views.

Do not stay at this hotel in low season as the place is basically shut down. We were there in late September and we were the only guests. The restaurant was shut and the only staff at the reception left for the night . We were told to enter by a side door which was kept open. It felt like being in a ghost hotel, especially since it faces an abandoned building with broken windows. To be fair , the room was clean but small and the attendant at the reception was nice and helpful.

The hotel is very good. The carpet does need replacing and decor a little dated. However it is value for money, great breakfast and the most helpful young lady on reception and bar, really nice and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Overall we loved our stay here. We paid a little extra for room 9, it was very big well kept and had a massive bathroom.

We stayed for two nights on bank holiday weekend 2024. The hotel was lovely and staff were brilliant. Food was delicious. Unfortunately we only had one complaint. We went out on Sunday for the day as we knew we could not eat at hotel. When we returned to the hotel we were shocked to find we were locked out. Seemingly there is a way in but we were not told about it. We tried to ring but got an ansaphone, seemingly you have to ring the bell to get in. we eventually got in and member of staff told us that the hotel was closed today. We came back hoping to have a drink in the bar but the lad said I can get you a drink but I will be going soon, so we were quite shocked that there would be no one in the hotel that evening. I was quite rattled that there was no staff on and we were there on our own. This was extremely disappointing on a bank holiday to find the hotel closed and locked with us inside. I think this should be explained on the website.

My boyfriend and I were really impressed with the Coach House in Otterburn. It’s in a beautiful location and the inside of the hotel is very nicely decorated and was immaculately clean. We stayed in room 10 which was a very pleasant ground-floor room just off the main dining area. The bed was comfy, the bathroom spacious and most importantly, the room was kept lovely and clean. Food in the hotel was absolutely delicious and was to be commended. We both had leek & potato soup to start, followed by cod, and both were fresh-tasting and worthy of any fine dining restaurant anywhere. For breakfast the next day we had scrambled egg and smoked salmon on sourdough and this was just as nice, along with a good range of cereals and yoghurt that we helped ourselves to. Lastly, the service we received at check-in and while dining in the restaurant was brilliant. Amy was lovely and made us feel very welcome, as was the young man who was also serving whose name I unfortunately didn’t get. They are both an asset to the place. I’d highly recommend the Coach House and look forward to coming back sometime.
