The facility is very tired. It needs to be refurbished top to bottom. Upholstered lounge chairs are beyond soiled. Wait times for seating and food delivery in the restaurant are unreasonably long.

No cable TV for our 2nd visit in 2 weeks

We stayed at the George Washington Hotel September 15 checking out September 16. The TV remote didn't work. The front desk gave me 3 different remotes to try. None worked. We're not big TV watchers but we would have liked to watch local news.

We stay at the George Washington Hotel September 30 checking out October 1. This time the the TV didn't work at all. I went thru the following steps in the photos provided. Nothing worked. The front desk sent Randy the bellhop. He knew less than I did. The sum is there was a satellite error 775.

The beauty of the property to begin with. Old world charm but modernized without detracting from the original character. The grand mailbox, each floor having a mailbox which directly connects with and is fed by gravity to the “grand” collection box on the ground floor! Beautiful! The basement pool is a spectacle to behold! The beauty along with the perfect water temperature provided a perfect ending to our evening!

Always enjoy our stay at the GW Hotel. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite with a jacuzzi tub — an added bonus! It is conveniently located just a short walk to the pedestrian only downtown shops and restaurants. We will surely return when we are in the area.

Pool Needs Work

So the room was great and the hotel looked nice until we got to the pool. The pool was the entire reason we choose to stay here. First thing was no pool towels. Not a big deal at first but it snowballed quick when we got into the very cold pool. The pool was so cold that after five minutes we were done and other kids were crying that it was too cold. My wife called for towel and we waited 5 minutes. Nothing. Another guest called and we waited another 5 minutes with cold kids and no towels. The hot tub was out of order, fountains not working in pool, multiple lights strobing above pool that need maintenance, and again the pool was too cold to enjoy. The hotel claims the pool is room temperature. I teach HVAC!! That was not room temperature. At checkout I explained my displeasure with the pool and towel wait. I was told "maintenance is out of our control." Umm maintenance works for the hotel so it's in your control. I've stayed at The Sagamore, Eden Resort, The Grand Estonian, Stonewall Resort all this year. I was shocked at the response I got from this hotel. Your can decorate as an upscale property all you want but it's really how you treat your guests needs that make you upscale. DO BETTER GW.
