Went on a recommendation for Sunday lunch. Great choice on the menu and we all had the roast beef which was accompanied by huge amounts of vegetables and superb Yorkshire puddings. Needless to say there were empty plates and full stomachs. Excellent service with extremely friendly and efficient staff. The location and atmosphere of a traditional English pub was the icing on a very delicious cake !

Great hotel. Everything thought of and staff are kind. Check in and check out simple and swift. Room is comfy, warm and clean. Shower is powerful! Breakfast was impressive. From beginning to end our experience felt personalised and great!

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and had everything we needed for a short break. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The breakfast was delicious. The pub has a friendly atmosphere. It was a perfect location for Stourhead. We would stay here again

Staying the one night, the room was perfect with a comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom. We ate in the pub restaurant and had an excellent meal. The Rude Giant brewery ales were in good nick and we enjoyed a filling breakfast before departure. A definite winner.

We stayed as a group of 8 friends after a day at Wincanton races. We’re so glad we found this cosy little hideaway. If anyone is looking for a blueprint of a country pub with rooms then this is it!! The staff are so warm and welcoming, the pub offers a great selection of beer, food and cocktails and the rooms above are so well thought through. We now want to try out the other 5 pubs in the Chickpea collection.

My husband and I had two nights here in April and were so impressed by the accommodation, service, friendliness of all staff, the quality of delicious food and just how comfortable and cosy the room was. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed, being given fresh milk for the room and homemade flapjacks from the kitchen were delightful. There were some lovely home touches to the room and bathroom, everything was clean, fresh and cosy with all amenities we needed. Food was fabulous, with the best soup I think I've ever had! Great selection of beers, cider and drinks, a wonderful atmosphere in the bar area and with the fireplace it was everything we'd hoped for! Staff were incredibly friendly and breakfast was fantastic, with lots of choice. We slept very well and will definitely come back in the not too distant future.

We’re just back from three nights at the Bell and Crown and can’t praise it highly enough. Simple, comfortable, spotlessly clean room. Quality bed linen, towels and toiletries. The pub itself is exactly what a village pub should be, cosy with a lovely atmosphere created by people eating, drinking, chatting. Oh, and the food is excellent! We ate there each night and enjoyed interesting, beautifully cooked meals. And finally, the staff are great. No doubt that we will be back!
