My Wife and I stayed at The Waverley Hotel on a Coach tour with Just Go Holidays. We spent four nights there and I have to say it was superb. The staff were top notch. It was a very friendly atmosphere and the room was really nice with good food.

Just spent 4 nights at The Waverley hotel and had a lovely time. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A big shout out to Karen and her team, in the restaurant. They all worked in a professional manner and nothing was too much trouble. Food was of a good standard and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. Rooms were clean and comfortable and well equipped. Thank you also to the young man running the bar. What a lovely young man he was and always cheerful!

My wife and I stayed at the Waverley as part of a Caledonian trip to the Norfolk Broads and Sandringham House. Having read the previous reviews I often wonder if guests think they have booked a high end Marriott Hotel; these hotels are decades old and like all of us they develop creeks and groans and need expensive maintenance. We enjoyed our stay and found the service of breakfast and dinner quite amusing, but with a large number of guests to serve at one sitting this is the most efficient way of achieving this. Perhaps two sitting in the future. One positive was that there was one member of staff manning the toasting unit which meant you could collect your toast without waiting; I would like to see this approach at other hotels. Our room was fine and housekeeping was done each day and fresh towels provided after the second night. As a seasoned traveler please don't set your bar too high and enjoy staying at these grand old hotels.

Went with a friend on a coach tour so expectations not too high to begin with. However, seeing the room really depressed us. Small and dark, in need of urgent refurbishment. Window was dirty and looked out over a wall and flat roof. We were put on the second floor, with a lift from the dark ages that only took three people at a time. So we had to carry out cases up two flights of stairs, no porterage. We assumed all Shearings coach holidays included porterage. On the plus side the bathroom was large and light. Shower did not work very well either boiling hot or freezing cold took a good ten minutes fiddling with the taps to get a fairly even temperature. Food was not very good and that is not just my opinion, I asked a few people and they also agreed. However they seem to put up with it “as its mass feeding, what can you expect?” However, the quality of the food was not the worst, but they way it was dished out. Queue to get into the dining room. Wait to be called up to go and queue for your main meal, dished out in ladles by staff. Very remininiscent of prison films, or school canteens. I found it very degrading and humiliating. The next two nights we ate out, ate in again on the last night. The veg that came with the main meal was hard and ice cold. Not edible. We mentioned this to the staff that cleared to table and she said she would tell the chef! Somehow, I dont he will be bothered! Breakfast was the same, pick up your plate, queue and wait for the staff (I will not call them waiters) to ladle something onto your plate. On the plus side, the staff very friendly and helpful. If this had been my first coach tour it would have put me off going on another one. However, I have been on tours and stayed in hotels where food was much better and served in a much better manner. Even a buffet style serving could have been handled much better. Another plus was the location of the hotel, very close to the seafront and a short walk to town centre.

Went with a coach trip on 28th July and were a bit anxious as the hotel was changed the week before. However, there was no need to be concerned. The hotel manager greeted the party on arrival which was a nice touch. Rooms although tired were spotlessly clean and housekeeping done daily. Food good and served by a very efficient staff. Plenty of quiet seating areas and nice bar attended by lovely friendly staff. Would highly recommend this hotel.
