Came for my 60th birthday celebrations with family. Everyone really enjoyed their stay and the food was amazing. The setting of the hotel is wonderful and the new Garden room is a fantastic addition with the most of the incredible views. The staff here are truly lovely and make you feel so welcome. This is my favourite hotel and I always look forward to staying and have been coming now for 20 years. Highly recommended!

We came with friends who have been regular visitors over the years and we weren’t disappointed. Fantastic, friendly ,professional service, comfortable bed, cosy sitting areas and wonderful views. The food was excellent and they catered for my dietary needs brilliantly. We will definitely come again.

Second time I had stayed here, and once again the weather was superb. The location itself, buried in the hills of the Marches, and just about on the English side of the border is idyllic, peace, tranquillity, and excellent service. Room looked over to the other side of the valley, and was well equipped whilst maintaining it's country house atmosphere. Would definitely return.

It was my 60th birthday, and my partner decided to bring me to this little oasis in the countryside not far from Llangollen and Oswestry. The views are spectacular, the rooms clean and comfortable in a cosy way. Furniture is antique, the mattresses deadly comfortable with high-end bathrooms (jacuzzi bath anyone?). Small details like a full-size, quality kettle, Le Crueset mugs, and homemade brownies on tap show great attention to detail. Along with fresh milk and bottles of water available to take as required from a small fridge in the hallway. The service is friendly, confident, and never far away. They cannot do enough for you... they are wonderful.... You are able to book spa treatments in your room.... Maddy was great, friendly, and left ne feeling relaxed and content... an amazing experience. Now... the food!! Amazing, fabulous, stunning.... something for everyone, people travel there just to eat in the cosy restaurant or the spacious conservatory which has views over rolling hills. Fantastic wine list. Could not resist posting photos of the food.... will come again. They made my 60th birthday extra special. Thank you all at the Pen-y-Dyffryn. See you again!! Xxx

Location, location, location… returning to this lovely characterful hotel after many years, did not disappoint. The extensive building project of adding a new garden dining room and two new valley rooms, has indeed complemented the hotel. To celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary we chose the new Valley Suite, a beautiful large bedroom together with separate lounge and stylish large spa bathroom. Comfort and elegance under one roof. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and chef together with his team, create delicious meals that are a treat to look forward to each evening. It would be remiss of me not to mention that many guests return to enjoy the peace and tranquillity, together with the slow pace of life that makes the package that is Pen y Dyffryn, so special. Sssh, don’t tell everyone, they all want to go!

On arrival at this relaxed, country house hotel, you get the impression you’re in for a lovely time. The hotel is comfortable and laid back, but very professional at the same time. Staff throughout our stay were friendly, and happy to help. The highlight has to be the 6 course dinner. From the homemade canapés to the homemade petit fours with coffee, and everything in between, it was all faultless. This was borne out by the fact the dining room was full on a Monday evening in March! We’re quite local and this was our first visit but most guests were repeat visitors and had travelled from all over the country. They’re currently having a new restaurant room built which will undoubtedly have beautiful views over the garden. We look forward to returning when it’s completed not only to see the finished project, but to enjoy their beautiful food again.

If you are looking for a special treat in the beauty and quiet of the countryside, this is the place for you.We had 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast, fabulous. The staff are really friendly, welcoming and attentive. Room was clean, comfortable and had all that one would need. Food was exceptional, the menu changes on daily basis. The variety of ingredients used to creat stunning flavours is imaginative and impressive, super chefs. A real dining experience. Highly recommended.

Our second visit to this amazing hotel and it was even better this time! Stayed in 'Blue room' which was beautiful, immaculate and perfect. Dinner was phenomenal. The crap salad was by far the best starter I have ever had and would be a worthy entrant on the Great British Menu. Who knew that Coconut sorbet could be so delicious and work so well in a starter. The rest of the meal was also amazing, steaks beautifully cooked and presented, puddings delicious also. The chef is clearly incredibly talented. It is all the extras that make such a difference, we have only been once before and were recognised, chocolate brownies to take to your room, places to sit and relax and meet other guests, just lovely. Sunday morning we went for one of their recommended walks, information sheet in hand, directions amazing and the walk and views were superb. If you don't choose to stay here you are missing out on a wonderful hotel!
