Yes, the staircase and some walls could use a lick of paint – but the bed was very comfortable and clean and so was the bathroom. AND the lady at reception could not have been more helpful! Our ferry had been rescheduled and we were arriving late at night in Cherbourg. We were trying to book online for the night. The so-called 24 hours reception hotels were either fully booked, ridiculously expensive or expecting you to check in latest by 21h!! We were able to ring through directly to the Napoleon and without any fuss, Ms. X texted back with the hotel code, left the room key on the desk with a note and greeted us with coffee in the morning! The hotel is conveniently located right in the old part of Cherbourg and there is a parking lot in front.
