The 1899 Inn in Deadwood was an awesome little place. I stayed there recently in one of their 2 BR cottages with my cousin and another friend while we rode our bicycles across the USA. The Inn is convenient to historic downtown Deadwood and the start of the Mickelson Bicycle Trail. I can’t recommend the 1899 Inn enough. It is a beautiful, low key relaxing place with charming owners.

Absolutely Stunning & the Place to be in Deadwood
I wish that I would have taken more pictures because as a part time history buff, I loved this place. We don't usually "bed n breakfast" but I was overwhelmed with the generosity of the owners and the loveliness of their home. They have certainly put their own hearts into this wonderful BnB. Keep up the great work!

The Master King Room was nicely appointed, with a sink in the room and a separate bathroom with a shower. Unfortunately we were there during a heat spell at the end of September and the room had a noisy air filter going through a hose to the window. We do not recommend staying here during warm or hot summer months. The bed was comfortable, but there was not a lightweight blanket available, only a heavy comforter. The breakfast that was included was not tasty or adequate. We were served a "pasti", a doughy turnover with eggs and meat, and two slivers of bananas and half of a sad looking strawberry. No other fruit. Nothing else at all. The other guests did not eat their breakfasts. There was no service at breakfast. There was no other food offered. The coffee was sitting on the table in a glass carafe and was cold. When we left, there was no one to give our key to. When we stay at Bed and Breakfasts, we usually meet the nicest people who go the extra mile in making our stay memorable. This was not the case here. A hotel would have been a better choice in Deadwood.

Charming house that seemed like home for the long weekend we were there - delicious breakfast and friendly hosts! Spotless and quiet rooms! Covered porch AND parking! A quiet neighbourhood for a short hike with good spots for photos of the area too.

Beautiful, well preserved house with many beautiful antiques. Host was accommodating to our arrival time which was very appreciated and super friendly. We loved that we had 3 breakfast time options to choose from, too! There was a machine-type noise that seemed to come from under our bedroom that disturbed our sleep the whole night so that was disappointing because we were exhausted after having hiked for miles that day. Maybe offering a package of ear plugs for guests would solve that issue.

What a great find! The building started life as an inn in 1899, while Deadwood was in its prime. It is located just down the hill (walking distance) rom the Mt. Moriah cemetery in what used to be the more affluent area of Deadwood during the mining era. It is quiet and removed from the somewhat chaotic main tourist area, but conveniently close at the same time. Each room is unique. I recommend the attic suite. You really get the feeling of staying at an inn at Deadwood at the turn of the century. Be sure to grab breakfast with the owners, and you will get a full history of the area and the property from a 3rd generation lifelong native. Not only will you get the history of the inn and Deadwood, you will learn about nearby Lead, SD where the real mining took place, and the interesting research going on at the former mine now.
