I really don't want this review to sound like I'm knocking the place -- it has many nice things going for it. The location is great for being a jumping off point to the Keys. The price was right for a mid-February vacation, one night only here. When we first arrived, we walked all around the building to find the entrance. We couldn't find it, turned around and came back and a nice young man came out of the restaurant door and asked us if we were looking for the hotel. I bet that happens a lot as there is no sign on the door next to the restaurant stating it's the hotel. Once inside, a friendly woman guided us to our first floor room at the back of the building and asked us if it was to our satisfaction. It looked clean so we said yes. The room had standard hotel amenities, including a hair dryer, but also a dehumidifier. The room smelled a little musty, so that's why the dehumidifier is in there. I didn't notice the smell, and my boyfriend only noticed it after we'd been in the room for a while. He said if he'd noticed it right off the bat, we probably would have left. The young man and lady in charge were super nice and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. When we asked about parking, if we could go out to dinner elsewhere and come back and find a spot in the lot, they were a bit iffy. They said the lot can fill up at night so we might not get a spot, but we could park across the street, wait until people left and then move our car back into the lot. But then one of them said if all that fails, we could use a spot nearest the building that really isn't a spot at all, but we could wedge our car into that. Luckily when we came back from dinner, there were at least 3 or 4 spots open. I had used the bathroom before we left for dinner and when we came back we noticed that the toilet was running. There wasn't a Kleenex box in the bathroom. Not a huge deal, just use toilet paper instead. When it came time for sleeping, I had a feeling the blinds on the window weren't going to keep the sun out and I was right. Bring a sleeping mask if you like darkness. Also bring earplugs FOR SURE! The first floor room shares a wall with the kitchen and at the end of the evening when the kitchen workers are cleaning up, you can hear pots and pans banging around, the workers shouting to one another, loud talking, loud laughing, etc. All that noise stops around 11, 11:30 p.m. The air conditioner was loud so we turned it off. There was street noise as well. We chose this place based on location and price; it seemed like a good deal and an interesting stay in a quirky hotel, which sometimes can offset lower quality accommodations if you find the place fun or interesting. So while I recommend this place as not too bad (we've definitely stayed in much worse places) I would advise not staying for more than one night.

We had a clean good sized room, coffee machine in the room but you need to buy coffee etc from a vending machine. No mat provided for the shower which was slippery. Second floor was accessed by outside steps. TV signal was poor throughout our stay. Quite expensive as there was no breakfast, Restaurant on site offers a discount but only open some days. The Hotel Redland is an historic hotel, built in 1904 it is the oldest building in The City of Homestead.

The room was clean, everything worked (fridge, microwave, coffee maker and hair dryer) and the person in charge was pleasant, but water was lukewarm at best. Sleeping, the most important use of a hotel was the problem . Worst mattress ever. Metal springs just below cloth covering, poking you. Worst though, was that it was not even remotely dark. Very bright lights just outside windows and only mini blinds to close. Desperately needs room darkening curtains.

The hotel is nicely redone, clean and bright. Great location to Everglades. The restaurant is really great food… and nice vibe( daytime) However, 11 pm on a Wednesday night a full pitch for live bands ( or karaoke?) is kind of a non starter. The email mentions that it’s loud on weekends..but during the week, similarly deafening. I’d also say there no one to complain to- hotel phone goes straight to vm. Towels are very small, not enough for 2 night stay. Sorry, I wanted to love it but….

DO NOT STAY HERE. Unless of course you don’t want to sleep. My husband and I booked here and nowhere in the advertisement does it say there’s live music directly down the stairs until 11pm every Friday night. They did say it in an email after we booked however. What they don’t tell you is that it’ll be midnight and people will still be yelling and screaming downstairs. Don’t stay here. Ever.

Hotel rooms are sparse. TV was a 25” that was terrible to watch. The fire stick had to be pulled each time you turned on the tv. There is no front desk so never a to reach anyone. Bathroom had only 2 towels and no mat to use coming out it the shower. The soap tray so soap and shampoo has to be put on the floor. Both had had blasting music in the lobby, right below the room, till !0:30pm, making it impossible to sleep. All this for $170 a night. Total rip off!!!

The hotel was beautifully renovated and very clean and comfortable, and the price cannot be beat. I chose it for its access to both Biscayne and Everglades National Park, and it was about 15 minutes from the former and 20 from the entrance to the latter. The check-in was a little confusing, but access to the building is smooth and through two doors— both of which have outdoor stairs, so be advised of that. Each room has its own air conditioner and ours was clean, spacious, and included its own fridge and microwave. There is a designated parking lot, which was very convenient. The hotel is historic and has a very interesting sign outside. The downstairs bistro had great martinis as promised, and we walked to both of our dinner spots which were both also delicious! Highly, HIGHLY recommend this place! We would highly recommend

We had stayed at this hotel a few years ago and it had been a pleasant experience-see my previous review. However things had changed-a new owner had taken over. -We arrived at the hotel for a two day stay it was completely locked.I had missed an e-mail sent the day before telling me that access was via a lockbox with keys inside. -There was no reception desk.Infact we could not find anyone in the building. To all intents and purposes we were the only people in the building. -No telephone in the room -While there was a coffee pot and two paper cups in the room there was no coffee, milk or sugar. We bumped into the one housekeeping lady a few hours later and were told we would have to buy our own as this was not a "full service hotel" -We were encouraged to climb an outside fire escape to access the building as all the bedrooms were on the second floor and a Bistro with a separate owner had the first floor. -A cleaning fee was added prior to our arrival.I have never seen this added as a normal charge in a hotel before. This hotel was being run like an Airbnb. If I had wanted an Airbnb I would have booked one -Overall very disappointed. -Finishing on a positive note.Christina the one housekeeping lady kept the rooms and beds very clean and the mattress while old was comfortable

Friendly staff, I liked the ease of check in(there is no front desk for the hotel), bed was comfortable.. we stayed for 4 nights and didn’t see any house keeping so we ran out of towels quickly. Prices were reasonable, the room was very clean. There is a TV with a fire stick but you have to use your own Netflix or streaming passwords to login. There’s a clean mini fridge and freezer with a microwave, and the shower was very clean as well. All in all I would stay here again. My only recommendation is that the check in emails are a little more clear. I didn’t know that my room was inside the actual restaurant and not upstairs with all the other rooms…. so we had to ask someone in the restaurant and she had to call housekeeping to help us. While we were outside another couple was arriving and had the same exact issue we had with help finding their room and keys.
