Our first trip to the Grove was great. This hotel has a really good vibe. It is very relaxed, the food was perfect and the staff were professional and attentive. This is not a starchy hotel, it is a bit different but all the better for it. The grounds are very big and include a heated indoor pool. This is the perfect base when staying on the North Norfolk Coast. Collin & Anita

We had afternoon tea here last Wednesday, having had a drink in the bar and a short walk to the beach. The tea was superb. All locally sourced ingredients. Great atmosphere with great background music to entertain us which we enjoyed. It was busy with other eaters, that must tell you something. Obviously a great place to eat and stay. The waiting staff could not do enough. The place was clean and tidy. We will be back hopefully to stay as well.

We stayed as a belated birthday treat . Great hotel, lovely friendly staff. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were very good. We stayed in one of the cottages which had everything you could need . Well equipped and very clean. The only thing I could say as a negative is that the bed/ mattress was a little uncomfortable and could probably do with replacing I'm also sure that once spring kicks in the surrounding grounds will be very beautiful . Great location for walking into Cromer which is pleasant easy walk. Would definitely recommend and will be returning. Thanks for looking after us so well.

We have had a lovely time and found top service, friendly staff and owners , very clean and cosy. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had with high quality ingredients and service. I honestly couldn’t recommend enough. We had use of their private pool to ourselves which was an added bonus. 5 star plus !!!! Thank you kind regards and see you again Justine and Scott Davis .

We stayed in the bungalow which is described as disabled friendly , which is to be fair is correct but not as disabled friendly as it could be with a little more thought. The shower is fine as I took a shower chair for my wife as none in the bungalow the toilet is too low for disabled users with no hand rails the sofa in the lounge is far too low for anyone with mobility issues which could be rectified with simple raising blocks. All it needs is a fold down shower chair the toilet putting on a plinth with fold down hand rails. The staff here are excellent polite with a can do attitude they even bought breakfast to the bungalow from the hotel (room service) as my wife couldn’t get into the hotel I would recommend going to stay here without a doubt the food was excellent and well presented with not over expensive prices from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt like the guests was made to feel special the warm friendly welcoming is amazing your staff are a credit to your hotel

Great location, short walk to beach through a small wooded area. Friendly staff. Room good, although near kitchen so cooking could be smelt occasionally. The big disappointment was the evening meals. Dinner the first night was not good, half a lettuce , not even sliced, on a dish with a little dressing and a couple of anchovies - not how I expect a ceasar salad to be presented. Steak for one of us was very underdone, even though asked for welll done. The second evening , same menu , crab cake burnt and covered with samphire to hide the fact, steak arrived stone cold and rare again, we declined for them to take to kitchen. Veg also cold. Staff seemed to avoid taking our dishes away and we sat for some time to wait for dessert. Very poor dining experience and the food is usually amazing. We mentioned this to receptionist when we left, who stated they had waived our drinks on the first night- an orange juice and small white wine!! We were then told other residents thought the food was excellent, well perhaps theirs was, breakfast certainly was good. We wrote to the manager on our return home, we had paid £440.00 for dbb, a two night stay and it was for our 50th wedding anniversary. The reply was, at the end of their email, that they cannot please everyone, all of the time. Unfortunately, our friends who visited earlier in the year had the same experience in the dining room at breakfast and dinner. Such a shame as we thought we had found a great place to go for special occasions. Unfortunately not.

Wow - what a truly brilliant New Years Eve party and overnight stay! We didnt know the hotel but wanted to see in the NY and chose to buy tickets to this black tie event. We booked the self catering Coach House so we could stay over - and an early dinner in the hotel. It surpassed every wish we had - the accomdation was cosy and warm - perfect for two ( bathroom could do with a little updating!) - service, friendliness and food in the restaurant was superb - we loved the traditional restaurant and the food. And then the party - lights led us from the hotel for the short walk to the Sundowner 'tent' - and another lovely welcome - glass of prosecco - canapes and a fantastic disco! Brilliant music - people danced all night. Not knpwing anyone else really didnt matter - everyine was having fun and were friendly. The highlight had to be the amazibg firework display at midnight - what a special way to see in the new year! We really did have a great time and highly recommend both this lovely hotel and the NYE bash!. Thank you all

We booked a five night stay in The Bungalow. Arriving on Sunday afternoon, first impressions as we walked through the patio doors were of extreme disappointment and dismay. Indeed, had we not had appointments booked in Cromer on the Monday and Tuesday we would have left immediately. The whole place is extremely shabby and grubby and in need of thorough refurbishmnent. I am certain no room in the hotel will be in this state. We left before 10.30am on Wednesday and my husband informed Reception of the reasons for our early departure. Whoever was on Reception at that time made notes of the points raised. No one from the senior management contacted us to investigate the issues raised or offer any sort of accountability or apology, that was until I completed the review form. Only then did The Grove make contact, if you can call two lines making contact, to say the Manager would not be back until Saturday and he would contact us then. I emailed The Grove for the attention of Mr Grayling expressing our disappointment and listing some of the issues. These included: the door to the lounge which cannot be fully closed due to poor fitting, the door to the bedroom only opening about one third of the way due to being restricted by the carpet, mould on the pipework in the kitchen, mould in the bathroom both tiling and the grab handles in the shower, dirt and mould on the inside of the front door, dirt and mould on the patio door, the bedroom curtains which were hung on a cheap plastic rail with too few hooks and when closed were extremely difficult to open. There are other issues and we took photographs of all mentioned here. I eventually received a response thanking me for drawing these issues to his attention and that many had now been addressed. As you can imagine, this is of little comfort to us! It is difficult to believe that management was unaware of these issues as they certainly did not occur between one let and another, these are long standing faults which have never been addressed. There would appear to be no planned refurbishment of any of the self catering cottages, all money and focus obviously is on the hotel. Obviously, the people who choose this sort of holiday are not given the same high standards and attention to detail offered to those who book into the hotel.....if those reviews are to be believed. Despite leaving after three nights, The Grove proceeded to take the balance from my bank account on the Friday. In effect we have paid in excess of £800 for a three night stay in substandard accomodation.....and nobody at The Groves cares or sees fit to think this is unacceptable. Rather, they think it is perfectly acceptable to take people's money regardless of the standard offered. This is the assumption you come to given their response and actions. Obviously, we will not be returning, there are many other cottages in the area of a far higher standard and cheaper. Ironically, I received a marketing email this week telling me that the self cate

Amazing room with so much character, every room was decorated so carefully in the Christmas theme. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, the food was top notch so well done to the chef and his team. We will definitely like to stay again, the walking around the grounds and to the beach was very enjoyable. Cromer is a delightful place to visit at anytime of the year.
