Always a delight. Earlier this week, I enjoyed lunch with other family members at Hotel Endsleigh, and it was just as wonderful as always. 3 of us chose from the set lunch menu. My treacle cured salmon was especially good, followed by hake with a very pretty collection of veg and lentils. My husband's foie gras was divine, (from the à la carte menu). Sensible portions meant we could tackle deserts - all delicious, especially the pear tart and the tiramisu which was cleverly presented as a cube, with a wafer thin black chocolate coating. Even the sticky toffee pud was ingeniously shaped. All in all a great experience. We've been coming here for lunch for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Well done to the Endsleigh team.

We went for the festive special lunch and it was truly wonderful with beautifully presented dishes and a real taste sensation and the best meal we have had for ages. Beautiful little hotel lovely decorated with an old worldy feel with amazing gardens to walk around. Attentive polite staff and a real find. If you like a quiet peaceful small hotel with exceptional grounds this is your place and we will be back. Thank you Endseigh staff.

We stayed in early November and while our expectations were high they were exceeded at this hotel. The gardens were beautiful, the room very comfortable and the breakfast delicious. But the standout was the staff - they were so friendly and kind. All went out of their way to look after us from reception, to the restaurant and the housekeeper who helped us remove a stray few bees what wandered into the room. This is our new favourite hotel!

We have been wanting to visit Hotel Endsleigh for some time having been to the sister hotels in Alfriston and St.Mawes. Beautiful setting looking out over a wooded valley and copious outside seating to take full advantage. The afternoon tea was, as you would expect, a masterclass in patisserie. Outstanding. Took full advantage of the garden walks to work it off! We’ll be back!

Deliciously decadent Afternoon tea. Scrumptious. Everything so beautiful. Approachable staff. Gorgeous selection of finger sandwiches, goats cheese gougere, old cornish and apricot sausage roll with a tomato gazpacho followed by sherry trifle, strawberry vanilla chantilly, lemon & raspberry meringue tart, chocolate choux au craquelin with scones, cream and jam. As in Devon , cream on first, of course. Topped off with a glass of champagne. Walked it off with a saunter around the beautiful, aromatic gardens. Ooh, had a plate of jellies wishing us a Happy Anniversary too. Very lovely.

Lunch today was a delight, and all the staff welcoming, friendly and efficient. It was hard to choose from the appetising menu, but all our dishes were superb and so beautifully presented. The dining room is charming, with original panelling and crests, and the decor in the various reception rooms has a relaxed elegance. It was a glorious day, and most people hose to eat outside, to enjoy the magnificent views. The gardens and extensive grounds are a bonus, and well worth exploring. We've eaten here many times, and it's always a joy to return.

We chose the Endsleigh hotel to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. Party of 5 of us. It was perfect in every way, catered for our food intolerances and put us at ease. We had a private cosy dining room, a warm welcome, excellent food and service. My dad was really overwhelmed by it all. Treasured memories for sure. Thanyou to all at Endsleigh.

The hotel, originally built in 1810, is as charming as the photographs show. The staff are friendly and go the extra distance. So, why an “average” rating? The rooms are beautiful the only problem is that they come with bathrooms. These were outdated and in need of modernization. Very few rooms have showers instead they have Victorian style baths with showers. These require that you climb over the high ridge to get into the tub without the use of any support handles then, with footing unsure , you turn on the water using a very dated system of faucets and valves. This works OK if you are physically fit and capable of maintaining your balance. The bottom line? The Endsleigh could install grab bars in every such bathroom. An inexpensive fix. Better still they could replace the baths with proper walk in showers.

Fabulous hotel for wedding anniversary celebration. We received a really warm welcome and our room was ready early. We booked the lowest priced room but it was so comfortable and had a lovely walk in shower. The hotel is situated in stunning grounds and gardens which were lovely to walk around or simply sit and relax in. The highlights of the stay were the amazing staff and service and the excellent food. We had lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast and could not fault anything. Simply superb!!
