The building itself has loads of character and has the potential to be better managed than it currently is. We had a 3 night stay, and our room certainly needs some TLC. The carpet has various stains, and the walls have marks on them. The bathroom tiles have lost their grout. The bottom part of the sink as it meets the floor the caulking is a mess. The extractor fan doesn't work and has a load of dust in it. We were on the ground floor and had good water pressure. The food was not the best. Roast dinners over 3 days with different meats. Portions were very small. Three small roast potatoes, slice of meet, two small portions of veg, and a cremated Yorkshire pudding. The tea & coffee were awful. The staff are lovely and very attentive and are happy to help. The outside of the building is currently having work done, so there are signs of improvement happening.

Stayed in this hotel 11 years ago and said we would never go back, well we did and what a change! The hotel is in lovely grounds about 20 minute walk from Melrose shops etc. We were greeted by friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help. The first room we were given was unbearably hot and heating could not be turned down, Within minutes we were shown to a room where we could adjust the heating and open the window. Apparently the heating system is undergoing change and not all rooms are finished. The room itself was a good size with plenty of storage and a comfy bed. Bathroom with shower was small but clean and modern. Lovely big towels. The whole hotel has had a lovely make over and the bar and entertainment lounge are nicely decorated and have lovely comfy seats. Bar staff are helpful and friendly. Now the worst thing about the hotel last time was the dining experience! Boy has that changed! Lovely dining room and very quick service by lovely staff. The food was amazing, good choice for breakfast and evening meal. The meals where excellent, nicely presented and good size portions, certainly didn't leave feeling hungry like our last visit. Since Alfa have taken over this hotel, it has improved 200% Our only downside was the heat but you can't please everyone. Well done to all involved.

Went with to Waverley castle through Alfa holidays, hotel was clean and comfortable. All staff were polite friendly and had time for every guest. Loved the Alfa change in breakfast menu, a lot easier, for ordering. Plenty of choice. Evening menu good variety with a vegetarian option, chefs special, Evening entertainment was good, Excursions through Alfa were really good especially Roslyn chapel, I am fortunate I am mobile and able to get around, but think it be good for the hotel to team up with the local Scottish bus that runs three times a day, to help guests on free day who have difficulty getting around this would enable guests to get in to Melrose and Galashiels.

In my experience the hotel was run down in areas, scaffolding still up outside the property. The worst of it was the a single room I stayed in for 4 nights over Christmas. On entering the room there was no shower curtain and the window curtains hanging down from the rail, carpets looked decades old thread bare in places, the window frame separating from the plaster, walls marked and scuffed bubbling away from the wall to name just a few. The should not have been used, closed up until refurbishment it was disgusting. Such a shame as the Melrose area was lovely.

Went here on a xmas break with alfa lovely welcoming staff clean good size room bath and shower very clean well maintained. The ball room cold though freezing cold. Good signal lovely bar staff very spacious clean and large spacious room. Spotless bath and shower amazing clean really nice thought as well with chocolates sweets and xmas card from staff how thoughtful lovely touch bed comfy. Would come again to this hotel

First visit to this Leisureplex hotel on an Alfa travel festive weekend break . The hotel is set back from the main road and is secluded with trees meaning we did not hear any road noise .The room was basic , clean and quite spacious with a walk in shower .Three heaters in the room . Beds comfortable . The public rooms were comfortable but a little tired , in some areas doors and skirting boards mainly in the corridors , needed attention . The food was mostly quite good apart from the porridge on the first breakfast which was more like soup .We complained about it to our server , the next two mornings it improved a lot . Our server was efficient .Generally the staff were pleasant and helpful . Thought the manager though could do with being a bit more cheerful . Entertainment was a singer and bingo every night .Considering it was a festive break the entertainment did not reflect this . Thought they might have had some party games . No one knew about the fancy dress on the last evening has it was not on the tour documentation . There was limited space in the ballroom and the bar was small . There was three coaches at the hotel meaning staggered dining times so if on the last sitting , like we were , struggled to get a seat in the ballroom . WiFi was good . Would consider staying here again if in the general area as overall we had a pleasant stay .

My score would have been higher if we had not had to travel nearly 60 miles south on the feeder bus to Rotherham before travelling North to Melrose adding an hour and a half on the journey ‼️ Same on return. Why can't they have a coach pickup in North Yorkshire or Wetherby?? The hotel is a typical hotel for coach parties and is owned by Alfa. Room was dated but comfortable, same for bathroom. The bar and ballroom were lovely places to meet up. It was a turkey and tinsel weekend but we were unaware. The food was okay, a bit hit and miss with the cooking, either under or over. Drinks were reasonable and the staff very good. The entertainment was great but had the bingo in-between the shows. Think it should be earlier at 8pm? For what we paid it was amazing value with trips out included. I would pay more for better quality food and more varied breakfast. I would go with them again if travelling south only to avoid being on the bus the extra tedious time.

I can easily say one of my favourite places on earth the staff were wonderful couldn't fault them big shout out to Daniel,James and Craig apsultly the best place on earth I've ever been big shout out to the bar men Jamie and charlie wonderful team the waiters the waitresses were wonderful as well could not fault the food was excellent as well I'd like to thank the cook for mango siyup flowers next to my vegan carrot cake never got bad tummy always fantastic food the atmosphere was joyful and beautiful people I say we enjoyed every single day of it I had the rest bite I was screaming out for the place was quiet rested up so well I enjoyed my evening walks by the river bank the rabbits and Animals was stunning even though there doing more work to there building its definitely highly recommended by me I felt I was waking up in fairy tale so thanks again for a fantastic holiday see you in the future

This lovely hotel provides you with an amazing group of management and employees who will bend over backwards to resolve whatever your problem is. They are welcoming, efficient, polite, accommodating. The bedrooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Cleanliness throughout the hotel is of a high standard The food choices are excellent and the food on all levels is delicious and nutritious. The entertainment in the evening is good and if you enjoy a game of bingo, that is something else to look forward too. I would definitely stay at this lovely hotel again if I visit Scotland in the near future.

Went for tattoo in Edinburgh .. second time we've been to the Waverley Castle so far , and going again at Christmas , we love it there ...friendly and helpful staff ,, clean hotel ,,, ..Good food , what's not to like
