A group of 23 of us had a Christmas meal at The Harboro last night. We sat down at 7.30pm and our main course didn't arrive until 9pm. The beef was tough and over cooked and there weren't enough vegetables - 3 brussels between 4 of us! We asked for another dish of veggies but this still hadn't arrived when we'd finished eating. Credit to the waiting staff who were run off their feet trying to cope. The Harboro clearly weren't equipped to deal with large numbers on this occasion and left us all quite disappointed. Taking pre orders would have helped!

A lovely hotel. Great location not far from local train station enjoyed my stay and we’ll be happy to return in the near future.

We booked my husband's memorial at this hotel because we thought that their facilities were good. The buffet that we booked was £20 per head and we were assured that the food would be monitored and replenished if it was running low. We were told that if we booked for 80 people there would be more than enough for that number. The guests were there by invitation only. On the day the facilities were good, the space was good and very pleasant. However not so the buffet. We were given two platters of sandwhiches, two quiches, two pizzas and an amount of fried pieces e.g. potato wedges, samosas. There were deserts in little bowls but far less than 80. We just assumed that it would all be monitored and replenished as pormised but this did not happen. When we noticed that people did not have any food we asked for more as had been promised but were told that the chef had gone on an extended break. It was an emotional event and we did not ecpect that we would have to monitor the buffet. Several of our guests left without having food and more guests did not have £20 worth of food. it was upsetting and embarrassing. I paid £1,600 on the day as I was not up to any confrontation and I was sure that they would sort it out later. I complained to the manager (who was not there on the day) and he was apologetic and offered me a reasonable refund that I agreed to accept. However, the owner then decided to take the matter over and withdrew the offer of a refund and said that a family member had told him we had enough which was not true. He also said that they had never had a complaint before. We were given more fried food when most guests had left and that may have been the point at which somene said there was no point in having any more as most people had left. We were never offered more cold food. The fact that they had never had a complaint before was irrelevant as it was not the case for us. We felt disappointed and let down as we were regular customers of the restaurant. We will not be going there again along with many of our friends. The way our complaint was dealt with was unfair and unprofessional. I would not book such an important event there again.

Evening meal was a wide choice of English and Indian cuisine. The fish rogan josh was exceptional. Very welcoming and attentive staff, clean and competitive pricing. Thank you.

We recently held a wake at The Harboro, and I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Elaine and the rest of the staff that looked after us. Nothing was too much trouble & Elaine continually checked we were all ok and we were treated with great compassion. We had a mixture of cold buffet & a curry buffet, all the food was lovely (as always!) highly recommended for functions or just drinks & food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We hadn’t visited the Harborough Hotel for years and hadn’t considered it for Sunday Lunch … it was a recent recommendation from friends that persuaded us to book for the Sunday Carvery. We weren’t disappointed and a great choice of meat was available. The selection of vegetables available was perhaps one of the best I’ve seen for a long time and it was great to see food plates that were so hot, they were given to you on a separate tray. This really kept our food hot whilst we ate. And the service from the staff was excellent and this was enough to convince that we will definitively return again for the Sunday Carvery.

Stayed in room 122 which was the last room along the corridor. Spacious room, double bed and single bed and reasonably sized bathroom. Room was very clean. On arrival we were offered a room on a higher floor but as my friend has some mobility issues due to a knee operation and the steps were steep, we stayed where we were. Mattress on the bed wasn’t very firm. As the fire door in the corridor was close to our room, it made it very cool (bathroom warmer than the room) and it seems windows are only single glazed. There is a generator of some sorts which you can hear when it powers up (every 15 mins). Didn’t eat at the hotel, breakfast was offered at £12.95 but got nice, cheaper breakfasts from independent cafes. Staff we had interaction with were friendly and helpful (remote to our TV didn’t work but was replaced quickly and without issues by a member of staff). Bar area and restaurant was very busy, clearly a popular place for both drinks and food.

We stayed here as we were visiting the Food Festival. We had stayed before and the landlord remembered us. There is good WiFi. Very. Friendly staff allowed us to early check in and put stuff in their fridge. We had a good laugh with the landlord and waitress at breakfast. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order with cereals and toast if wanted. We were in room 207 which is up two flights of stairs and as the hotel has no lift is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. We wanted dinner on the Sunday night but they close at 5pm however we were offered plates and cutlery if we wanted to order in a takeaway which we did. The Chinese (I think it was called Mama’s) two doors away is to be recommended.
