I had a genuinely lovely stay at the Gateway Hotel Swinford — relaxed, comfortable, and quietly well run. The rooms were quiet, well-appointed, and had everything one might need. The staff were wonderfully kind, the food was excellent, and everything just flowed effortlessly. I ended up really looking forward to the traditional full Irish breakfast each morning 🍳 — simple things, perfectly done.

Just spent the weekend here at the Gateway hotel with my brother and two sisters whilst visiting family near Swinford, We had a great weekend, the hotel was perfect also the staff where very welcoming. the breakfast was lovely Will be visiting again Highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in the area. Spotless and ultra friendly hotel with wonderfully efficient and helpful staff. More than happy to assist in resolving a number of late itinerary changes and, while it is somewhat unfair to single anyone out, Collette was especially impressive. Restaurant also catered superbly with our large group on successive days. In a nutshell, nothing was any trouble. Could not recommend highly enough. Already looking forward to a return visit.

We dropped in today Wednesday after The Heritage featival in Ballina on the off chance of getting a table. The dining room was busy but they smilingly gave us a table. We had a steak and the Gateway burger both very good. We were served by a lovely friendly waitress. The restaurant menu has excellent choices. We really enjoyed it. The barman was very helpful too. So glad we stopped at The Gateway.

Would highly recommend this hotel. Food is really good with a great choice of dishes. Rooms are lovely and very comfortable. Staff are great and go out of their way to help you. Night porter Laurent was great and very helpful at 5.30am in the morning when I had to leave.

Beautiful hotel, very clean comfortable bedrooms. Breakfast very tasty and wonderful service. Evening meal in the lovely bar was delicious and good value for money. Lovely young man Finlay looked after us so well with a good mix of humour and tasty menu options.

We went for a birthday meal. It was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were excellent, including waiter/ waitress, chef and management. Can't wait to come here again. Thoroughly recommend it. My family would come here again.

I organised my mother's surprise 80th birthday which was held here in this hotel at the weekend. I cannot compliment and thank the staff enough for how well it went. It was perfect from start to finish. Trish and Colette could not have done anymore to help me make it all go seamlessly. The room was so well decorated for Xmas, the buffet food was excellent. The waiting staff were so nice and helpful. I literally have nothing bad to say. I would highly highly recommend having a party here for a special occasion. 🥰

Had a meal with drinks The choice was potato skins stuffed with chicken. It was god awful ..They were cold and stodgy and I think they were frozen and reheated in a microwave. I felt quite rough after eating it and it was several hours before I felt OK. I did ask the hotel for an explanation but after one call when they said they would investigate what went wrong. Nothing. I won't go there again... Joe G
