This was a very cool 15th century building, and you can tell: low doorways, sloped floors, ancient doors-- it's all there. The room was great, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice, the shared parlor was a bonus. But, if you just want to bask in history, this is the place to stay. And, as an extra treat, the front of the building was featured in Harry Potter 5. We loved it!

I booked a surpirse weekend away here for my partner and do not recommend it. The room was advertised on the hotels own website as having an overhead bath shower. On checking into the room we found that was false. Instead, there is a bath and a separate hand held shower attachment. Even the on duty manager was confused stating they didn’t know where the shower had gone! We paid for a room with a shower, as advertised on their site. The bedroom door also has huge gaps (approximately one inch in places) around the main bedroom door. There is a curtain as a substitute. Whilst I appreciate this is an old inn, in my opinion this is far from ideal from a privacy perspective. Let alone the noise from downstairs and the corridor. The management will listen to your concerns, but in my experience came across very disinterested in offering any service to address these. We barely got an apology. Very disappointing. As other reviewers have commented, the cleanliness of the rooms also isn’t great. The bedroom carpets are worn and dirty. If I’d have known, I wouldn’t have booked.
