Very comfortable and pleasant room in a traditional seaside guesthouse. We seemed to have been upgraded to a larger room and appreciated a little extra space. Our room was light and airy with a large terrace (which we didn't use), very comfy bed and spacious bathroom. We enjoyed breakfast in the light and bright dining room. Food and coffee were good. We didn't mind that the only staff member we saw was the person who prepared (?) and served breakfast. The info folder in the room explains the business's rationale for this approach. We felt that in a tough commercial environment it might help to consider refreshing the photos / info in the noticeboard on the street. We noticed that the property is for sale and hope that Athelstane House is able to thrive in the future.

An amazing place to stay for a couple of nights. The room was lovely, sunny and quiet. Bed was extremely comfortable and soft. Shower was amazing to use. Everything you could possibly need was provided. Breakfast both mornings was delicious and delivered to my room by friendly staff. A perfect getaway location.

My wife and I just returned from our 10th visit to Athelstane. As always accommodation was spotless and the bed exceptionally comfortable. We are always made to feel so welcome and the wonderful breakfast was a joy each morning. Thank you Laurel, it is our winter getaway destination that is precious to us both. Alan and Jeanie.

I took myself away and stayed here. Hands down the comfiest bed I have ever laid on, it swallowed me whole, I didn’t want to leave! The service was absolutely amazing! Staff were so kind and Laurel the owner was so attentive throughout the whole stay! Not to mention the meals were to die for! 😍😍 It’s safe to say I will be visiting a lot more! What a hidden treasure!
