This was our third stay at Mount Grace. Our previous two have been excellent. However it is becoming clear that the Executive Suites are in need of some serious maintenance, especially the pools and decks around them. On this occasion we had to see three different suites, before we had a working pool. The first the pool had a red mold type deposit around the edge. The second the pump was not working and no heating. As these are the most expensive rooms at the hotel, one would expect better!!!!!! This is real shame, as we have really enjoyed our times here. Staff are always friendly and helpful, especially the Golf Cart Drives. Staff at the restaurants are excellent, especially at breakfast time. The terrace bar serves great food and is always a relaxing place to eat and have a sundowner, with views over the Magaliesburg.

I agree with alot of the comments here, the resort is living in the past. It was my 1st visit to the property and my expectations were high however I was left dissapointed. The price point is definitely not justifiable. Very old and carpets are quite old and damp feeling. A revamp is definitely needed. Food was also not the best, very average. However service and friendliness from staff were exceptional which is always great. Would also be great if there was covered parking available

Smelly carpet, stuffy room. Stained carpet and the room smelled of mold. I was changed to a standard room from an old executive room because of the smell. No refund. In November 2025 I had to be moved from one room to another because all the TVs and phones were not working. Mt Grace used to be such a great hotel. The level of service now is shocking

We've previously enjoyed a wonderful stay at Mount Grace under the previous owners and were keen for a return. Sadly, we received a lukewarm welcome by staff who acted like they were doing us a favour (no friendly warmth at all). The same thing happened when we left, they couldn't care less to enquire if we enjoyed our stay or to encourage a return visit. It was shocking first and last impression. In fact, the friendliest staff was in the restaurant and around the hot pool. The electricity was off on arrival and while we understand power interruptions, if you don't know something, just be honest and say so, with the promise to find out and provide feedback. The frequent power interruptions on night two forced us to go to sleep earlier than planned. *Room – was up to standard for the price, but there was no hook in the bathroom to hang the gown or in the room for jackets. The hairdryer was coated with products from previous users and too disgusting to use (see pic). The umbrella was handy and appreciated. *Food – pretty standard, nothing special and pricey. *Amenities – lovely setting. The hot pool was nice. The hiking trails had no signs. *Overall experience: disappointing. We won't return.

This was a tranquil and romantic spot for a night away! We ate at both the Twist and Vine restaurants - Delicious food, We were treated to a very modern room. You are shuttled on golf carts to the various locations on the property. The Mount Grace Spa is probably the best spa we have ever visited. Not only the treatment, but the facilities are world class

The hotel is extremely over- priced and I think operating on its past reputation. It’s an ok four star hotel but nothing more and doesn’t remotely justify its rates. Breakfast is ok but doesn’t compare to the other southern sun hotels in Johannesburg. Dinner was also ok , but nothing special. Rooms are nice if a bit dark and gloomy. The plunge pool is fairly pointless. The bathroom was enormous which didn’t serve any purpose.

It is lovely hotel, but some of the things within my room were not fixed. Electricity was off at My side of the bed and when we called reception, the phone was dead. We were sharing the room and both of us wanted to drink green tea and found out we only had one tea bag. On the second day, the second guest ran out of hot water in the shower

Mount Grace has been on our list of places to visit for sometime. We finally got the opportunity earlier this year and were not disappointed. Check-in went smoothly and the layout of the hotel was well explained. We had booked one of the Executive Suites. Once the formalities were over we followed the golf cart to our parking area, unloaded and onto the golf cart for the rest of our journey to our room. Our suite was excellent with everything you would want, including the plunge pool. We were still exploring our room when we had a call from reception informing us that they had found a problem with the pool and we were to be given a new suite. If that was not service from the first minute I'm not sure what is. So back onto the golf cart and to our new suite. We spent the next few days relaxing by our pool, wandering through the beautiful gardens and pathways. Meeting up with a variety of birdlife and the occasional dassie. Breakfast in the Twist was very good. Picked up your Mimosa on entry then a great selection, from full English to fruit and yoghurt and everything in between, the Danish pastries and pancakes a real treat. If there is one point with the breakfast to be aware of it is the timing, either go early or leave it until a bit later as it can get very busy at times. We also had great meals at both the other restaurants. The Rambling Vine is the more al a carte with some great meals and wine to choose from. The Terrace and Stoep is moe informal but still does some great food. You can sip away on your cocktail and take in some of the views. Staff at both are friendly and service is good. The main bar has a good atmosphere and we spend most night here enjoying our selves. It can get a little noisy if there are a lot of children about, but there are other spaces near by if you do want a quiet drink before or after your meal. Would recommend the Mount Grace if you are looking for a relaxing weekend away.

Television quality extremely poor. Bathroom basin plug leaking. I expected better room decor from this venue. Room not sound-proof with television sounds from neighbouring room being very disturbing - feels like a privacy issue. Overall room experience not at all what I expected from this venue..

Our second visit to Mount Grace. Again we booked the Executive Suite and pool which enabled us to have a private and relaxing time reading and soaking in the pool. Even though there was a busy convention in the main hotel. A stroll down to breakfast in the morning. Breakfast is always plentiful and varied from fruit and yoghurt to full english an amazing choice. Also you get a nice glass of bubbly on the way in. After breakfast we could stroll back up the hill or there is a complimentary golf cart available for those who don't fancy the walk. Most mornings we were rewarded with numerous Dassies grazing or playing in the trees as well as the varie birdlife. The Terrace was our go to evening haunt with cocktails and really great light meals. All the Staff here are friendly and provide excellent service, be it in the restaurant at breakfast, Terrace or Bar areas and then the "Uber" Golf cart drivers just excellent. Definitely another visit in the future
