It was absolutely fantastic! René and Mike were wonderful, accommodative and attentive hosts. The food on the first night was delicious. The mint sauce was fantastic, thanks René. The dogs, friendly and the rooms clean and well- equipped. Breakfast was also good- I got to try René's chilli sourdough bread - fresh and delicious. We had great conversations and I have recommended them to all the artists and art teacher ahead of next year's workshop!

The Old Trading Post ticked all the boxes and provided us with exactly what we needed for the 4 days we spent in the Wilderness area. Off the beaten track in a private, quiet area, with plenty space for us to relax in the pool, braai or enjoy the scrumptious breakfasts and exceptional pizzas prepared by the hosts. Mike and René catered to all our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed the friendly chatter and personal service. I cant' wait to visit again!

Nice tented accommodation with a double bed and an outside shower / bathroom area, so more a warm weather spot. Only stayed one night, on a road trip, last minute booking. The only downside is the path/steps to the tent, very uneven and quite treacherous to walk up and down. The owner needs to sort these out asap as it is a bad accident waiting to happen.

Mike and Renee are excellent friendly hosts. Their accom is not chic stainless steel and glass but it is historical personal clean comfortable and well equipped. The old trading post is in a lovely quiet walking area but near to Wilderness and Knysna. It is literally an away from it all spot with all the home comforts you would expect. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order with all the usual array of fruit , coffee, meats, cheese , toast cereal etc. Peace and quiet were the name of the day. Loved it. Thank you both

Staying locally and went for the much recommended pizza, we can say with confidence the pizza was fantastic. The hosts made us feel so welcome. The highlight was the desert which was a cheesecake on that particular evening, it was absolutely superb. Highly, highly recommended.

The ideal place to stay on the Garden Route as approximately halfway.However more importantly The Trading Place exudes a beautiful calm rustic charm, exemplifed by the host. The most delicious breakfast awaits you at a time of your choce, the bread is homemade. Highly recommended is their preordered pizza in the evening. The host is coincidentally the guide for the river trips, so has exceptional knowledge on the nature of the area. If all this attracts you if you are considering being based in the Wilderness area I would urge you to stay here.

I arrived after a long tiring 5 hr drive and immediately relaxed with the warm friendly obliging welcome. Mike the owner was very helpful and patient about my enquiries for the area. His wife is a tremendous cook and equally amenable..Highly recommended is the offer of a pizza in the evening totally delicious. The lodging has utmost rustic charm. Such a great relaxing cheery vibe - go for it

A beautiful and well kept glamping tent with everything you need! It feels so relaxing and I love that it is so accessible and not far from anything in Wilderness. I would 100% recommend staying here and will definitely be back again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Trading Post in Die Vleie Road in Wilderness. The guest house is located in the countryside of Wilderness. The hosts Mike and Rene made us feel welcome and at home during our stay. I highly recommend the experience!
