At one time this would have been a magnificent hotel its just a shame that it has deteriorated so much. We arrived at 2pm on the Friday and had booked as a group of 14. When we arrived at our room it was very dated, furniture had missing handles, bathroom sink was cracked and there was a hole in the ceiling where it appeared that previously there had been a leak. The carpets were dirty although the beds appeared to be clean. The bed was comfy and so were the pillows and we were warm enough despite the window not closing fully. Unfortunately there was no towels and a staff member told us that there wasn't enough towels to go round everyone. The food was ok although not a lot of choice and breakfast was not the best but then having only paid £45 per night for a Friday and Sat it was what it was. As we were on a girls weekend then we spent little time there apart from sleeping and having our meals. One stairwell had a leak and every time you walked through the doorway you were dripped on. The same stairwell someone had put a half eaten sausage roll on the fire alarm box and 2 days later when we were checking out it was still there. On the morning we were leaving all of our cards had been cancelled so on returning back to our rooms to collect our belongings none of the cards worked. We had to find a member of staff to let us in although grumbled at doing this - we only wanted our belongings and this was at ten to ten in the morning. If its a place you just want to crash out in after a night on the town its ok...otherwise would stay well clear....I certainly wouldn't stay again

So we checked into this hotel as a family as we’d heard it was like being abroad as nobody spoke English and you could pretend you were in one of several different country’s at the same time. There was plenty of food on offer and loads of just eat and deliveroo drivers coming in and out all day but we didn’t see them bring in much food just the bags and the bikes. There is a small area downstairs where you can buy lots of stuff that the other guests must have bought in error and they’re half the normal price. The problem we had was the couple in the room next door kept moaning all night and we all know how hot it was this weekend but they started shouting in a foreign language about ‘only fans’ I assume they only wanted fans which the hotel should have provided. They had lots of other stuff but I doubt it would have worked like a fan so not really sure why they had this stuff, things like baby oil, horse riding whips, jelly but not a flavour I’d ever heard of so it must be a foreign delicacy KY jelly?? There were a few cameras fitted about and some handcuffs, at one point we thought they were maybe under cover MI5 or something and seeing how easy it was to slide handcuffs off using baby oil!! But we couldn’t work out what all the ET fingers were for. We went as a family for a nice quiet break away but honestly it was spoilt by this couple which was disappointing as she was the only other female we saw. In fairness there was a lot of security so there is very unlikely to be any trouble. We did say we might go back again without the kids as the poor blokes who were staying there kept staring at our daughters as I think our girls were possibly the first teenagers this giant stag party had seen all weekend!

Wasn't allowed to book a room as the whole hotel is now a migrant party pad. Do not let your teenage daughters walk alone near her, while i was parked up speaking to another hotel i witnessed gangs of 20-30 year old guys on the foyer eyeing up young girls on the prom. Very disturbing

This review could easily have been several pages long.Stayed one night due to an emergency-had I realised it was a Britannia hotel I would have slept on the beach.Waited 10 minutes for receptionist to get off his phone, despite my trying to attract his attention he just ignored me and carried on.Was given key-when I asked directions he just waved his hand vaguely and returned to his call-at no point did he ever finish his chat, just held on the whole time we were checking in.Tired carpets and peeling paint in corridors.Key card didn't work so back to reception.STILL on phone.Room smelled of vomit-it was unbearable so I went back to reception and, after half an hour was given another room. This one just smelled of damp and bleach with added cigarette smoke..Went for shower-no towels.back to reception-said some would be sent up.Went back again after almost an hour. Was given ONE small towel, not a bath towel.Shower never got beyond very tepid.hardly any pressure and the water didn't drain-still there next morning.Cracks and cobwebs on filthy window-cobwebs everywhere actually.Un vacuumed carpet had a few shards of glass carefully piled in a corner along with a cigarette butt (this is a no smoking hotel.)The rest of the carpet crunched.Front missing off cabinet drawer but it was filthy inside anyway,as was the room and bathroom in general-toilet hadn't been flushed never mind cleaned.Suspicious stains everywhere-I wouldn't lie on the sheet which had a hole where someone had poked their foot through so slept in clothers put on again after shower.Tried to wash underwear in washbasin but no hot water so had to use tepid dribble in shower. No remote for TV-too tired to trek to reception again so tried to sleep.Springs poking through entire mattress, one thin, yellow pillow.Freezing cold(this was summer).Thin walls meant I could hear every word of neighbours both sides and above as well as toilets flushing. The corridor noise never stopped-people shouting and banging their doors and mine all night.Went to check out at 7am and asked for refund but still fighting for it.Britannia specialise in taking grand old hotels then spending absolutely nothing on them, thus running them into the ground.Happy to take millions from the government to house immigrants but Alex Langsam just pockets the cash for himself and his cronies.

Booked unseen to celebrate our golden wedding as we stayed there on honeymoon. A member of the Britannia group which says it all. The whole place smells musty, "restaurant" is more canteen. We walked out rather than stay there.

not a good experience, very tired hotel though it would be a good place to stay but it wasn't. booked an executive room but was not executive at all in the middle of the hotel with a view of the service corridor and water poring down the window from the broken drain pipe. swapped us to another room on the fron with a sea view which was not much better window rattling and draughty had to stick toilet paper in the window to stop it rattling and stop the draught.. second time we have used this group and been the same both times last time the prince of wales in Southport. would avoid using them again
