Improve food & room bathrooms, otherwise ok

Good: Lots of free parking, good location for transport links, quite a large hotel, good efficient check-in, spacious modern bedroom with comfy bed and sockets/charging next to bed

Bad: Lobby/bar area a bit lifeless, food very average, room bathroom needed updating, stains on the room carpet, slow wi-fi

Reception was exceptional . The whole experience went downhill from there . Greeted after checking in by a sign stating Swimming pool out of action due to breakdown . A long walk down winding corridors and steps ensued to reach our rooms . The bathroom door was heavily marked and dirty all mouldy grout had been attempted to be sealed over with mastic ( very poorly ) . Cleanliness was far from good in the bathroom and likewise in the room . Carpet was very stained and dirty . Thankfully the bedding was indeed clean .

OK - but there are some comfort and service issues

I recently stayed at the Mercure Daventry Court Hotel and found the experience to be a mix of positives and areas for improvement.

On the positive side, the location is very convenient, especially for those attending events in the area. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout my stay, which I appreciated.

However, the check-in process was slower than expected, with a noticeable queue that didn’t move very quickly. My room was unfortunately quite cold, and despite raising this with the staff, the issue wasn’t resolved during my stay. Additionally, the bed was not particularly comfortable, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.

There was also a noisy event taking place in the hotel that evening, which affected the overall atmosphere and made it hard to relax.

Overall, while the staff and location are definite strengths, there are some comfort and service issues that need attention to make this a more enjoyable stay.

Good location for where we were visiting. Bed had lumps and was uncomfortable. Website suggested free use of pool but actually it was 10 pounds each per visit. Signs in parking lot also demanded daily parking fee. Reception stated that was what they hoped but parking was actually free. Service in bar was good albeit expensive and pay machine suggested tipping.

Slightly dated decor, the property is vast and we were put in rooms that seemed the furthest away from the main building. Despite it seeming very quiet and there were only a handful of guests. The rooms and corridors could do with modernising. There were some stains on the carpet and a lampshade in one of our rooms. There were no issues with the breakfast with reasonable choice. I would suggest the hotel is more 3 star plus rather than 4.
