We had the pleasure of working with Bokie and his team over the weekend to host a three-day international sporting event, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Bokie’s professionalism, responsiveness, and willingness to accommodate numerous last-minute requests were truly commendable. The function dinner was exceptionally well executed, with a wide variety of dishes and generous portions that catered perfectly to our guests. Throughout the event, the team was consistently attentive and readily available to assist with anything we required. A special mention to Alisa for her professionalism and warm, friendly service — always delivered with a genuine smile. We sincerely appreciate the effort and coordination from the entire Bird of Paradise team and look forward to working together again in the future.

Everything about this hotel was terrible despite me paying a massive premium to attend the Goroka Show. Doesnt deserve any stars. The food was largely inedible / unsafe to eat (eg salmon of which only the skin was cooked) / non existent (eg just rice and bread at breakfast). I frequently chose to pay for food elsewhere although my 5 day package included all meals. Others did too only to end up in hospital with food poisoning in some cases. I often had to clear a table of plates etc so I could sit down; and would sometimes ask 4 or 5 staff for the same thing (eg coffee, change) with no result. They kept charging me for food included in my package, which the tour company had to pay, as they wouldnt budge, so I could check out. Rooms were very dated and not maintained - if you reported something broken sometimes 3 or 4 times either no one came to fix it or the person they sent couldnt fix anything. My room was on the main road so very noisy including a guy shouting about religion one day starting at 7am. I had to have my key reprogrammed at least daily. There was hot water only occasionally and the power kept going out. The gym was closed down and pool was average.

My family and I stayed at the BoP to attend the famous Goroka Show. Despite the expected busy period, the staff were very helpful and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The front desk ladies were very polite and helpful to ensure we were able to stay another night on short notice. The maintenance, housekeeping and restaurant staff were very responsive and punctual as well. As a national I was very impressed and proud at this level of service. Well done. My family and I will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to Goroka.

Goroka festival weekend 2025 The busiest weekend of the year and not prepared. Bedrooms - modern and clean Bedside light only one in double room, which the switch was temperamental with the odd spark No hot water for 3 day stay A couple on their honeymoon were told the room they booked was not available. Restaurant Menu really poor, lack of PNG/Goroka dishes Evening meal first night ran out of products Breakfast moved to ground floor on day 2, no tea and told won’t be any No cutlery available Food not available and 15-20 mins to replenish products No clean tables to sit at Bar Ordering drinks at the bar no one to serve so had to go to closed restaurant to find member of staff to serve us. Hadn’t got a large enough cash so had to wait over 20 mins for change. A couple of staff were trying really hard to make everything work. All in all for a supposed quality chain hotel, extremely disappointing.
