Last Sunday I had a breakfast with my family who were staying at the hotel. The breakfast menu had 4 cooked breakfasts on offer (with prices shown) and also offered tea, coffee, toast etc with no prices shown. I assumed that since, for example, the full English was £17 that tea was included. That would be a fair price. There was nothing on the menu saying it was not. Prior to my hot food arriving I had a small Pain au Chocolat. When it came to paying I was charged for my Breakfast roll (£10) and separately for two small pots of tea. I was also charged an additional £19 for the pastry. Unbelievable rip off. Just downright dishonest in my view - some of the sharpest business practice I have encountered. When I questioned the bill the staff were rude, condescending and unhelpful - implying I should have guessed a small pastry would be £19. Suggest you do not eat here unless you want to be ripped off.

We’ve just returned from a fantastic one-night stay at The Talbot Inn and couldn’t be more pleased with our experience. We chose the hotel for its convenient location ideal for visiting nearby attractions (The Farmers Dog, Didly squat, Blenheim Palace and surrounding village) and it proved to be the perfect base. The staff were warm, welcoming, and extremely helpful throughout our stay. We booked a Deluxe Room with breakfast and phoned ahead to request a pet-free room. This was handled without any issue, as the hotel keeps a selection of both pet-friendly and pet-free rooms. I would recommend calling in advance if you have specific requirements. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with thoughtful touches including tea and coffee facilities, biscuits, and a choice of regular or oat milk cartons, as well as fresh milk available from the bar. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries such as shower gel, soap, body lotion, shampoo, and even a shower cap. Additional conveniences like irons, ironing boards on the landing, and umbrellas by the entrance showed real attention to guest comfort. Although we didn’t have dinner at the hotel restaurant because of prior plans, it was very busy when we returned and the food looked excellent. Breakfast the following morning was fresh and delicious, with a great selection of pastries, cereals, fruit, and a full English option. We would happily stay here again on our next visit and look forward to trying the evening menu next time.

Friendly, caring and helpful owners and staff. Immaculately clean throughout. Recently and tastefully decorated, warm & comfortable en-suite room, comprehensive toiletries as in a 5-star establishment, outstanding breakfast (we didn’t eat dinner). Thoroughly recommended and we will definitely return.
