I had a fabulous 3 night stay at the delightful Griffin Inn. The rooms are lovely , clean and light and airy. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and Sir Jaimie was the perfect host , making me feel like a friend staying with him . I will return !

This was a wonderful random find for us. We needed to break a long journey so booked the Griffin Inn for one night not knowing the history or any background to the place. We were welcomed personally by our host Sir Jamie who made a point of chatting to us before dinner. The meal was exceptionally good - the parsnip rosti was delicious as was the rest of our food. The bed was soft and comfortable and we dropped off to the sound of owls hooting. Beside that it was very quiet with no traffic at all passing by. Our host made a point of joining us in the morning and we had a fascinating chat over a tasty cooked breakfast. A brilliant place to stay.

A beautiful welcoming pub in a picturesque village. Both the staff and the regulars gave us a very warm welcome. The service was very friendly and efficient and the food was lovely! Loved the different dining rooms/areas. Also a great garden area to appreciate those warmer days! Would definitely recommend.

This is the first time we have visited The Griffin even though we only live 10 miles away - We had 3 courses on a Saturday evening as a last minute booking and we were really impressed by the food and the lovely staff. Louise made time to talk to us and have a chat re what they offer and the different dining rooms and theme night and Christmas. We are definately considering coming here leading up to Christmas with a group of friends. The only small downside with the food was the meringue in the Eton Mess seemed shop bought , but other than that the rest of the food was fantastic. Great atmosphere too.

Today we did an 11 mile walk with Winston (black Labrador) in the area and stopped off for a much needed refresher on the way home. We didn’t eat but the food looked fantastic and the people working there were bright and breezy and working hard as the place was very busy. We had our drink and came home about 15 miles. Later that evening a car pulled up and a young lady got out and asked my name. As she approached I recognised her as one of the staff from the Gryphon. She had been handed my wallet by another customer and had come all that way to return it, how unbelievably kind of her and in my shock I didn’t even get her name but she made my day at the pub and here at home. Lovely place and lovely people!

From the moment you walk in, you are made to feel very welcome. The staff and management are all super friendly and very professional. The food was excellent…probably one of the best steaks I’ve had. Restaurants and grounds are incredibly clean, tidy and well set out. Food is reasonably priced. There weren’t any negatives. Would definitely recommend.

We have just stayed a couple of nights in this beautiful place to attend a funeral, and wake which was held at The Griffin. Jamie hosted the wake, and he really did make a terribly sad event, so much more bearable with his amazing hospitality. What a lovely chap, so kind, friendly, thoughtful and generous with his time. The weather was simply gorgeous so everyone was able to spread outside and enjoy the stunning surroundings. The on-suite rooms are furnished to a high standard, very comfortable beds, and a really cosy little lounge to gather in, with tea and coffee making facilities. This place really is one of Britains ‘Hidden Gems’.

Just had Sunday lunch at The Griffin. We were welcomed with a smile and a verbal 'Welcome', which made us feel at home. Service, ambience and food were magnificent. We'll be going again with friends for sure. There's a very cosy private room for larger parties, which we will book.

We visited between Christmas and New year firstly for a few drinks, then the night after for food. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar and were impressed by the quality and deliciousness of the food. I had one of the specials, and my wife had the steak, both excellent and well priced. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for a great place for refreshment with a cosy, welcoming vibe.

We enjoyed a fabulous stay at The Griffin Inn, with everything you could wish for in a beautiful country hotel. The food and service was first class, but the secret ingredient was Jamie, his hands on approach and hospitality goes above and beyond. We can’t recommend The Griffin Inn enough.
