We stayed from October 23rd to October 27th as a family, and we booked two of their heritage rooms. The property is very beautiful, with an amazing view of the backwaters. They also have an excellent swimming pool, which is very well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant service was very good as well. They call you in advance to prepare fresh and customized meals. I even got a chance to fish in the backwaters, and they cooked it for me. The only concern was the soundproofing. Since the heritage rooms are built in the traditional Kerala style, noise from outside can be heard inside. If you are sensitive to sound, this may be an issue in the heritage suite.

Our family staycation at Vedic Village was a mixed experience. The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained, and the service was polite and efficient for a three-star property. However, the unclean washrooms with a persistent foul smell were a major letdown. The food prices felt overpriced for the quality and variety offered, there were no continental or oriental options that was a let down. Additionally, the narrow country road to get to the property was difficult for maneuver, making access inconvenient. The pool area also needed attention—loose tiles, uncovered water holes almost got my foot injured, the size of the pool was disappointing. While the stay was decent overall, improvements in cleanliness, food variety, and maintenance are needed.

We spent two nights at the Vedic Village Retreat in Paravoor, Kodungallur, located in the Thrissur district of central Kerala, right ***** the Periyar River’s edge. Our preference was the lake-facing villas, but with none available, we opted for the premium rooms instead. They turned out to be just as enjoyable, with the lake only a short distance away. The rooms were roomy, featuring two showers—one indoors in the bathroom and another outdoors, enclosed yet open to the sky. Bathing beneath the stars felt truly serene. Even the toothbrush and razor had wooden handles, a nod to the retreat’s Vedic-inspired ethos. We lingered for hours on the benches by the riverbank, soaking in the peaceful, pristine waters of the Periyar and watching the sunset, which we managed to photograph. The resort was bustling with international guests. Natesh, the operations manager, was incredibly gracious and went out of his way to ensure our trip was unforgettable. He joined us for a canoe ride on the river, where we glided through the backwaters as they merged into the Arabian Sea. ***** the way, numerous canals fed into the river, creating a vast expanse of water that rivaled the sea itself in its boundlessness. We snapped photos of the sunset from the boat—a breathtaking sight. The outing was flawlessly arranged. Natesh also suggested we visit the Thiruvanchikulam Siva Temple, which we did the following day. Over 4,000 years old, it’s considered Kerala’s first temple. The food at the retreat was a standout. Their dal makhani and paneer tikka were the finest I’ve had in Kerala. Chef Vinu, a skilled culinary talent, personally oversees the menu and preparation. My thanks go to Natesh and Vinu for making our time at the retreat so special.

The location was amazing, ***** the water, with palm trees and birds singing. A little paradise off the city for a wonderful retreat. The rooms are extremely spacious avec very well decorated, wth an amazing outdoor private shower. The food from the restaurant was stunning. A very large selection for breakfast, and even the most simple sandwich was to die for. Finally the staff was absolutely incredible. From the ladies at the gate, to the staff from reception and the restaurant. So considerable, thoughtful and very helpful. Special shout out to Danyia and Natesh who have made our stay absolutely stunning!
