This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stay in!!! The room was freezing cold, even though it was the middle of February they didn’t put the heating on. But the icing on the cake was the little black hairs in the shower made me want to vomit! We were supposed to be staying 3 nights, left after 1!

I'm surprised by all the positive reviews for this place - they must've been having a serious 'off day' when I stayed. Firstly, I was told to call on arrival, but when I arrived, quickly found there is no phone signal in the area. I tried opening and knocking several locked doors to no avail. After 10 minutes, the manager came outside and took me in. The first thing I noticed in the room was the overwhelming smell of cigarettes. Either the previous guest had been smoking in the room, or hotel staff were smoking outside near my window. The hotel listing says no pets allowed, but I was woken by a dog barking inside the hotel late evening. The mattress was awful - I realise preferred mattress firmness is subjective, but this mattress was like sinking into a sponge, and I woke up with a bad back. Also found mould in the bathroom and yellowing grouting in the tiles. Further, the description for both the hotel and the room I selected on the Booking website had false information: 1️⃣ "Breakfast options include continental, full English/Irish, vegetarian, and vegan." - On arrival, the manager said they would not be serving any breakfast. 2️⃣ "Guests can enjoy a terrace and bar." - I was told the bar was closed but that I could go to a pub down the road. 3️⃣ "This single room's special feature is the fireplace." - There was no fireplace. 4️⃣ "Providing free toiletries..." - See photo. The "free toiletries" were miniatures that somebody else had already used. 5️⃣ "...and a hairdryer." - There was no hairdryer. 6️⃣ "The single room provides a flat-screen TV with streaming services..." - See photo. Too many TVs in the hotel using Netflix, so it didn't work. 7️⃣ "...a tea and coffee maker..." - See photo. There was a bowl with a load of single-use sachets and a kettle full of limescale. Stating 'coffee maker' implies something like a Nespresso machine. 8️⃣ "Facilities including radio and fan." - There was no radio or fan. 9️⃣ "Entire unit located on ground floor." - It was on the first floor, not that it mattered. 🔟 "Hand sanitiser." - There wasn't even soap at the sink, let alone hand sanitiser. I had to wash my hands with shower gel. Check-out was non-existent. I saw a cleaner, who told me to leave the key in the room door, then he disappeared. I didn't see anyone else. I made a complaint following my stay and received a tiny partial refund of £8.73... I can't even recommend as a 'cheap and cheerful' hotel, as I know I could get a Travelodge for £20 cheaper, for a larger room, huge bed, and much more consistent standards, but thought I'd support a more local hotelier who described such a lovely room. 1 out of 5 might seem harsh, but as the bar was closed and they were not serving breakfast as advertised, I can only comment on the room, which I was thoroughly disappointed with as half the advertised features and facilities weren't there.

Advertised as having a cosy restaurant but apparenty hasnt for 6 months, waiting for ******* to give me a refund,i had to find a new hotel at 7pm without ******* help as they kept me waiting for 45 mins then disconnected me.

Superb overnighter- only needed a small single room which was extremely comfortable, quiet and cosy, with a brilliant continental breakfast in the morning. Nice bar selection too. A pleasure also to meet Richard and chat over all things Stockport. Easy walk back over to Hilton and Don Amott Leisure. Will certainly book again if needing an overnighter.

Best Hotel I've stayed in yet, put us up at last minute after we were let down , lovely people who really looked after us , lovely rooms and very friendly staff, lovely personalised breakfast ,would definitely stay again

We stayed whilst attending a wedding at Grangefields Barn. The hotel is lovely and would highly recommend the breakfast. Thanks to Richard for making sure we had a comfortably stay.

Our room was in a two suite annex, the other room was occupied by my brother in law. The rooms aren't large but absolutely sound for a short stop, they are very clean, bed linen and towels were excellent quality, tea coffee and TV (if you're into that stuff) all available. It was very quiet which was appreciated. Breakfast was abundant, juice ,tea, coffee toast and a crackin' full English breakfast plus yoghurt etc etc and some fresh strawberries as a wee treat. Prices were more than reasonable, service was pitched perfectly, attentive but not intrusive. Thank you Richard, we will be back.

Slightly unusual but great place to stay!

This place isn't a hotel in the traditional sense, more like a bar / restaurant mainly open for 'hotel' guests but don't let that put you off, it's a great place to stay. Very friendly atmosphere, staff can't do enough to help, food is excellent and rooms are quiet and comfortable. It's my preferred place to stay when I'm in the area.
