We recently stayed at the Rod N Reel at Woodburn when travelling back from Brisbane. It was a fantastic pub - delicious, hearty meals and fantastic service at the bistro and bar. They were still recovering from flood damage - the signs up on the wall indicated how inundated they were (check it out in the photo!). Location is across the road from the river, jetty and new kids playground. This is such a relaxing view, while enjoying drinks and food at the front alfresco area. The accommodation was lovely - the old fashioned bathroom sink made it feel so country. We had the best night's sleep (yes, better than the 5* at Brisbane!). We look forward to staying there again soon! Thank you to everyone at the Rod N Reel - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

Wow, all time low visit. Absolutely terrible staff, food and venue overall. Gaming area is particularly third world and cleanliness is a term they've never heard of. Right down to the lack of soap in the restroom Give it a wide berth and stick to the coast

Saturday evening food was good. Children's area smelled a little funky in some corners and could benefit from regular cleaning. Room was terrible though; no smoke alarm as it was with no batteries and dangling from the ceiling; bunk bed handle came off as kid was climbing up. We had to put towels under the doors to avoid draft from coming in (it was the middle of Winter); air con only worked reluctantly in main bedroom (not in the living room where the other beds were. Cockatoo serenade all night long so little sleep; that and the lights from the front court automatically turning on every 10 mins or so and 'blinds' no blocking the light. In short, would not stop there if I can help it. One would think that maybe hotel managers would actually stay in the rooms and have the customer's POV (much needed here). I hope this helps anyone on the road, but especially families with young kids.

We recently stayed at the Rod n Reel during Xmas/New Year. I noted quite quickly that there was no quilt for the queen sized bed - Instead there was just a single sized Kmart blanket ready to be laid out on the sheets! The tiny bin was full with the rubbish left behind by the previous occupant/s. I went to make a cup of tea before realising the tea cups were stained (presumably by the previous occupant/s again!). We went searching for the shared use bathrooms. We find the female one easily enough as the door was open however we had to guess that the door next door was also a bathroom (male) as there were no signs. When using the shower - there was no hook or shelf for towel or clothing etc. On the first night I was awoken at 2am by very loud snoring from next door. I eventually got back to sleep at 5am. During my 3hr early morning hiatus from sleep - I went to watch TV before realising there was no control in the room. On a positive note - the A/c Units worked well + I did manage to get a decent sleep on the 2nd night as Mr Snorer had thankfully checked out. The food in the hotel attached was good and the service approachable so credit goes there for effort.
