We were received with a warm welcome. The room was spacious and comfortable. Near Horas Family Home there are many small shops and restaurants. Horas had arranged a very comfortable pickup from Medan Airport and also for the days we stayed the tour facilities were perfect. In short, a very enjoyable stay at Horas Family Home during our trip through Thailand and Indonesia.

5 out of 5! The Horas Family guest home was warm and welcoming. They helped us at every turn. Their Guest house is absolutely stunning right on the lake! Our suite was huge, super clean and had everything we needed. The family included us as we liked. I gardened and planted seeds/seedlings a few times as my passion is growing food! We swam daily in pristine waters. Anytime we asked for help about a tour or needed something, we were met with kindness and good advice. Tomorrow we will order a custom made meal from their kitchen. Very excited about that.

We stayed in Horas Mini, one of the three apartments of Horas Family Home, with our two children. It was very comfortable due to the two separate bedrooms, the large bathroom and the kitchen / living room terrace. The beds were very comfortable and the place was very clean. We (and especially the children) liked the swimming pool, the garden, its different animals (dogs, rabbits, chicken ...) and the direct lake access with jumping board. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was served in our apartment and it was very good. We also ate several times dinner prepared by them and it was really delicious! You have to try the freshwater lobster! Berend, Mia and Desy also perfectly organised a day trip and the transport to our next travel location which was very convenient. We strongly recommend this high quality place which is family-friendly, cozy and quiet!

This was my second visit to Horas Family Home. My first visit was 5 years ago and the experience and feeling were again great. Just relaxing, enjoying the views, walking around Tuktuk and even swimming in Lake Toba. This time we took also the Samosir tour of Horas Family Home exposing us to Batak culture, handicraft and impressive landscapes of the island and surrounding. Perfect logistic organization also, the pick-up from our hotel in Medan and drop-off again 3 days later in Prapat for the continuation of our 3-week trip through Indonesia. Horas Family Home was a perfect start for our holiday. Thanks Berend, Mia and Desy.

There are two beds, one is King sized and the second one consists of two single beds, a midsize dining table with 6 padded chairs, a chest of drawers with a flat TV make the room look quite colorful with yellow painted walls, wooden framed windows, furniture and high, shiny wooden ceilings. Eight windows all around the large room make it look quite bright. A large fridge, gas and rice cooker, blender, microwave including crockery and cutlery and a big water dispenser filled with fresh water make the kitchencorner quite complete. The guests can prepare their own meals, while the vegetarian dishes in the restaurant are also very delicious. The quiet studio has a ceiling fan and and a good stand-alone fan, but an aircon, especially in one of the sleeping areas, could add to the comfort on hot summer days or nights. The configuration and general interior of the room itself make a huge difference to the rather small rooms and limited outfit, facilities and amenities, that most other rooms in Tuk Tuk provide, the bathroom with a hot and cold shower is spacious, cozy and clean, so the place is more a home away from home, where it can also be enjoyable to stay for a longer period of time without missing a certain comfort. One can relax on a large balcony with table chairs and rattan couch, enjoy the view of jungle trees and lake, pick a book from a nice wooden bookshelf hanging on the wall or use WiFi. The twitter and chirping of the birds, that inhabit the higher layers of the roof, sounds like they're enjoying the natural ambience of the whole compound. There's a lot of beautiful flowers 🌺, an organic vegetable garden 🏡 providing herbs and vegetables for delicious vegetarian dishes combined with tofu and tempeh. One can also pick vegetables and herbs from the garden and create all sorts of green smoothies. There's a clean swimmingpool next to a springboard, that invites for a jump into the lake. Boats and bikes for rent are also available. Ferry arrival and departure is just a 2 minute-walk away. Next to the compound one can buy great tasting wild chicken eggs, which make quite a difference with regards to taste and health. There's a local food store, other small stores and a real supermarket in close walking distance. Only a few steps away there are a German bakery and a pizzeria. We enjoyed the quiet and familiar atmosphere. We'd definitely come back, it's been the best place of all we stayed at Lake Toba.
