我和妻子都热爱野生动物、狩猎旅行、驱车狩猎和野生动物摄影。我们每年都会去非洲两三次，所以有幸游览了非洲许多美丽的地方。上个月（2014年6月），我们第一次去了马蒂克维，在Last Word酒店住了六晚。抵达后，我被一个美丽的水潭深深吸引，那里有一个隐蔽的观景台，可以近距离观察在水潭边饮水的动物，还可以拍摄低角度的照片。这真是太棒了，隐蔽的入口和出口都足够远，不会吓到在水潭边饮水的动物。它24小时开放，有舒适的座椅，甚至还有豆袋坐垫。隐蔽入口旁边有一个进水口，大象喜欢在那里喝淡水。你必须保持安静，但这也是一种回报。我们看到了大象、角马、水牛、工藤新郎、沃托格、犀牛、黑斑羚、罗恩、斑鬣狗、棕鬣狗、斑马、长颈鹿和许多鸟类来喝水。傍晚和夜间也有灯光，非常适合观赏，但对于摄影，我建议使用更明亮的灯光。在隐蔽处的水坑边或坐在水坑前的花园里总是有很多东西可看。那真是一种绝对的享受。通常我们会在早上和下午的开车之间小睡一会儿，但我们有极度的 FOMO（害怕错过），没有回房间，而是整天呆在水坑/隐蔽处。小屋本身装饰得非常漂亮，气氛也很好。小屋不大，只有两位观赛员，每位观赛员最多可容纳 6 人。他们有一位很棒的厨师，食物很美味，提供早餐、下午茶和晚餐。工作人员非常友好，真心实意地关心您的健康，竭尽全力让您住得愉快。房间干净舒适，所有必需品一应俱全，包括冰箱和空调。床也很舒服。浴室有点老旧。我们来的时候是冬天，所以晚上气温有时会降到零度。睡觉时，我们惊喜地发现床上有一个热水袋。早上驱车游猎时，他们还提供了热水袋和毯子。这个保护区是五大野生动物保护区之一，还有两群野狗。冬季天气干燥，但景色变化很大，有人口稠密的山丘、平原和大坝。遗憾的是，在我们驱车游猎期间，我们没有看到野狗，它们在山上筑巢，只在捕猎时才下来。不过，我们看到了很多普通猎物，包括大象、犀牛，我们还看到了几头狮子（还有雄狮猎获的猎物）和几只猎豹。一开始，车速有点慢，但后来我们看到了很多精彩的表演。我们的护林员知识渊博，对这片区域非常熟悉，需要一些指导才能把车停在最适合拍照的位置，但她很快就学会了 :-) 经过6个美好的日日夜夜，我们终于

我们刚刚结束了在 Last Word Madikwe 的精彩之旅。我曾在南非、肯尼亚、津巴布韦和博茨瓦纳参加过狩猎旅行，这家旅馆的地下隐蔽处为客人提供的私密体验让我叹为观止。隐蔽处全天候开放，由于旅馆最多只能容纳12位客人，我们经常可以独享整个隐蔽处。每天晚上，我们都能看到犀牛在水位处饮水；白天，我们则近距离观察大象，它们用鼻子靠近隐蔽处入口。这真是令人难忘。旅馆的草坪俯瞰着公园里最古老的水潭之一，因此，无论白天还是夜晚，各种物种都会源源不断地涌入这里饮水。在两次狩猎的间隙，我们可以在草坪上休息几个小时，观察野生动物之间的互动，而不会受到任何干扰。开车出去的时候，我们看到一只猎豹猎杀了至少10头犀牛、一头大象、一只稀有的棕鬣狗和一头狮子。我们迫不及待地想再去一次，这次还要带上更多的家人！

I did a lot of research to find just the right accommodations to cater for our party of 4 adults and 2 teenagers when I decided to go with The Last Word Madikwe. What a find!! The private villa is stunning and was perfect for our group. The view from the villa looking out over the waterhole is spectacular and the game drives were memorable. From the moment we arrived, to the minute we left, we were looked after so well by the lovely staff, especially Kira and Roxy. We were served breakfast and lunch overlooking the waterhole in our private villa and then dinner in the main lodge. The food was lovely, especially the breakfast after returning from our game drives, cooked by our chef Kebolo. Our guide Amos was fantastic, so knowledgeable and experienced. He managed to ensure we saw just about everything (except for the elusive leopard). Our girls loved every safari, and we have some fantastic memories to take home with us. The waterhole was a standout, and the hide provided spectacular viewing from zebras, rhinos, elephants, hyenas, warthogs and wilder beasts. It was a constant stream of animals that stop off to enjoy the water. The grounds are beautiful to lounge about and relax. We enjoyed the brai dinner in the boma and also sitting around our own private fire pit. The private pool deck was also a wonderful place to spend the day, watching over the waterhole. If you're thinking about staying here then do it... the private villa is an indulgence but it's worth every penny! Thank you The Last Word Madikwe. We're hoping to be back some day.

A fantastic family feel place to stay. Very well set up and great game drives. From the moment u arrive everyone is lovely and it seems one big happy family you quickly become part of. Sam the guide was extremely knowledgeable and able to plan the drives so u can see everything. We even saw leopard - which is very lucky! Rooms are clean and beds comfy - does need a bit of upgrade but that’s in process. The fact the guide wakes u up with a knock on the door is amazing. Drives very set to time which is good to plan ur day. Fence system allows u to have a walk during the day. The waterhole and hide are amazing and allow really close up experiences and plenty to watch during the day. Overall amazing

We’d give The Last Word 10 stars if this was an option. Why 10 stars? Overall experience, service, guided game drives, food, roomy accommodations and best of all the Water Hole ! There is a discrete underground hide next to the water hole for up close viewing of the wildlife. They are walking past you and drinking in front of you all while you’re undetected. Extraordinary viewing spot. The 5th largest preserve is full of animal sitings of every species: lions, elephants, wild dogs, hyenas, etc… Our guide, Sam, provided personalized twice daily game drives. The rest of the staff was always there to great you with a cool washcloth after every drive. During the drive there was always a stop for either coffee and biscuits in the morning or drink and appetizers in the afternoon. Highly recommend !

We were fortunate to stay here recently. We were accommodated in the villa, which is brilliant for 6 people, with three bedrooms each with their own en suite. Beds were super comfortable and linen lovely. Food was good and plentiful. The lodge has a great hide looking out at the waterhole, which is visited by many different animals. The highlight of the trip for us was our guide, Sam. He was very knowledgeable, not only about the fauna and flora, but also about local custom, which we were interested in. Would love to go back and would request Sam as our guide.

Our stay  We had a fantastic stay at the Last Word Madikwe! The staff, in particular, Sam, Keira, Tataum, Max, Thabang, Jodi and Roxan, were excellent. The group had specific allergies and dietary requirements and they were handled with the utmost care. We are very grateful!  The lodge was so clean and tidy, and had lots of lovely products for us to use. The food was excellent and of a really high standard. The only tiny bit of feedback would be for the lodge to have a gym / fitness area as a lot of three course meals, and not much activity made for a very indulgent stay! There are yoga mats in the rooms which is a bonus.  The watering hole was an absolute highlight for us every day. On arrival we were greeted with two rhinos and other various animals during our stay!  We would really recommend booking this lodge.  Game drives  Ronnie took us on all of our game drives. We saw 4 of the big 5 and learned so much about all the animals, birds and plants on the reserve. Thanks so much, Ronnie!

We stayed at The Last Word for 4 nights as a family of four (2 children aged 10 & 8)…wow, what an experience. The lodge itself is smart yet rustic, the experience, service, food, and everything else was 10 star +. Sam, our guide, was exceptional, both in terms of his knowledge and his very amiable manner. Both us and the kids learnt so much. Max took care of us very well in the dining room, and the chefs deserve a Michelin Star…honestly, we have been to many different restaurants around the world, and this was absolutely top notch and the kids were very well catered for. The ‘hide’ was such an incredible experience….to be able to get so close to the animals was astounding and the watering hole itself provided an ever changing vista. Tatum, Jodie and the whole team could not have done more to make our stay any more enjoyable. Thank you to all.

I was very disappointed with my recent experience with Last Word Madikwe. I had planned to stay at their Madikwe property and was ready to use my IPrefer points at the published rate of 100,000 points per night. Within just a couple of days, the rate jumped to 150,000 points and then all award availability was suddenly removed, even while cash rooms remained available. I had already booked my flight and rental car which were non-refundable. I contacted the property multiple times, but instead of addressing the issue, I was given inconsistent answers and no real assistance. I even provided screenshots showing that award space had been available just days before, but they were unwilling to honor the original rate or even explain why the inventory was removed. I also confirmed with IPrefer that only the property has control over this, yet they refused to take responsibility or escalate my concern. To make matters worse, I was told there was no availability for the week I needed, even though every booking website still showed wide-open rooms. Overall, this left me feeling misled and unvalued as a guest. If you’re considering booking here with points or through IPrefer, be very cautious — availability can be changed without notice, and the property does not seem willing to stand behind what was previously offered.
