This place is very special. The house was very clean and comfortable. The views were exceptional. Fabian went above and beyond to secure a taxi for 5am in the morning to catch our bus to San Jose. It was not easy but he found someone prepared to get up for a short fare. It required time and thought. Thank you for making our trip to Costa Rica so exceptional. I can only say you would be very lucky to stay in this place.

The Vista house is very dirty. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned. There was blood all over one of the sheets and when I pointed it out the male owner was rude and claimed it was us and that it was just chocolate. Every night there were large animals (ie not insects) in the wall that scratched and woke us up. We couldn't see anything but recorded video of the very loud noises and that it crawled aroubd in the wall. The owner just laughed at us. The second night, in the dark, I was attacked by a bat in the bedroom. In a panic I waved it away and it flew around the room. We finally caught it with a pan and let it out. That was the final straw and the reason why we had enough. When we told the man about it, he claimed it was a beetle. Grinned at us, shook his head and left the conversation. I have never experienced anything like it. After all, we had proof with the removed bat and the sounds from the wall on video. I have never experienced such bad treatment in a hotel. The male owner is violently arrogant. Degrading and claiming one lies and laughs at one. I cannot recommend this hotel in any way. It is very dirty and disgusting, far from everything and the host is rude and arrogant. At the same time, the house is full of animals such as bats in the bedroom and animals in the wall. It is the worst place I have ever stayed and we also left the place early even though we had paid as we didn't want to be there anymore.

The cabinas are all sited to have private views of the forest. We stayed as a family of four. The lon veranda looked over the tops of the canopy into the small private reserve which is part of this complex of self catering cabinas. We saw motmot hawks parrots toucan, squirrel and hummingbirds all over breakfast from the veranda. Access to the trails into the cloud forest direct from the cabina, 800m of trails on your doorstep The night walk with Brandon on site was excellent: very knowledgeable: lots of frogs, toucan (two types) porcupine The kitchen was well appointed, bathrooms clean a d lots of water and comfortable beds, WiFi good

Beautiful location, we saw so much wildlife from our balcony. Clean, large rooms, comfortable beds and a rainforest walk on your doorstep. Good shower. Best window seats ever, with hummingbirds, squirrels, butterflies and Mot mots to look at. There is a useful kitchen if you’d like to self cater and a small supermarket 5 min walk down the hill, and also an excellent Italian Restaurant. It would have been good to have had some tea and coffee provided but that is our only gripe. We would highly recommend the guided night walk from the property. Our guide was the passionate and knowledgeable Brandon and we saw a vast array of wildlife.

Exactly what we were looking for. Peaceful and quiet but within easy reach of Santa Elena. Cabins are not luxurious but beds are comfortable, plenty of hot water and very very clean. The trails around the property are amazing. We saw far more birdlife and wildlife there than on any tour!! It would be a fantastic spot for birdwatchers . Breakfasts are $10 per person and you have to "reserve" in advance with whoever is on reception duty - the breakfasts were really good and the coffee was too. The mist/cloud rolls in during the afternoon and it can be a little cool but you honestly feel like you are on top of the world in the cloud forest (which you literally are) We loved it there. It is a family business and a working farm, so no airs and graces, just honest, hard working people. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Cabinas Capulin was not a 5 star hotel, but it was great value for such an amazing location. My family stayed in the Vista House and it was more than spacious enough for 5 people. It also had a really neat set of walking trails through the cloud forest right from the front yard which had many different types of birds, frogs, insects and even tarantulas (although they live in their holes and never leave so you are highly unlikely to see one unless you are specifically seeking them out on a night tour). It was really close to town so you could easily drive into town to eat and shop as well it was on the way to the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve and Selvatura Park so it had a great location as well. Just ask at the front desk about the night tours if you are interested in seeing their wildlife; our kids loved it (To be honest, we did did too). Overall it was an excellent experience and a great place to stay. Note: We did need to wear jackets at times in the evening due to the cool winds

This is a fantastic spot away from the bustle of Monteverde. Made up of a selection of cabins spread out around the farm with lots of trails. Our cabin was quite basic but very comfortable and with amazing views and full functioning kitchen. So many birds came to visit us on our terrace and the trails around the farm are fantastic. We did a brilliant night walk on one of the trails and saw so many different species. The breakfasts are really tasty as well!

We stayed two nights in a cabin. The view on the Arenal Lake is beautiful. It is located near Monteverde, 5 minutes by car (I recommand having a car to stay there). The cabin was brand new, well equipped and very clean. It was also very quiet. The welcoming was pleasant and very professional. There are short but nice trails in the forest on the property. Monteverde and Santa Elena are very pleasant villages to hang out, the landscape around is amazing and the cloud forests are just awesome. The most beautiful trails we've seen in one month in Costa Rica.
